a must-see movie for multiple reasons, muslim bashing, madressa bashing, but then you have Angelina Jolie there as well :)

get ready karachi for some more bashing from the west while the event which happened was unfortunate but a movie describing the events would be hard to watch for a karachite I guess.Although I read that its based on the book by daniels wife where she has thanked people from the administration if I correctly remember one of them being the CCPO of karachi police

Is it a Muslim bashing or Fundamentalist bashing? On related note, a detainee who was related to Daniel Pearl’s Murder died.

Its not about who started killing first its about to understand what is right and what is wrong. we Muslims proud to say that we follow Hazrat Muhammad SAWW but actually we dont even try to follow him properly. We need to understand this extremism and have to fight against it. Remember killing a person means killing the entire humanity (As by QURAN).

Having read the book, I think it doesnt really bash anything but describes the difference between regular karachites and then those who are out to make trouble. I could relate a lot to story since i was in karachi at the time of the incident and the house in which the pearls were residing was roughly a block away from a friends house. I remember seeing all the security but it never occured to us till much later that they were there.

    Baazi,

Two quick responses to your question:
First, if you are that interested in a movie about those killed in Iraq, why don’t you make one.
Second, ever hear of “Fahrenheit 9/11”, “Iraq in Fragments”, and “Gunner Palace”?

  18. Salman A. (unregistered) on May 20th, 2007 @ 8:19 am

common sense tells those ~1 mm were muslims. hope that answers.

    one more:
tandulkar scores a 100 against BD and Shahid Afridi hits SL. i say, ‘goron’ pe karam apnon pe sitam.

    Life is not fair :)

  19. Kar-Achi Battian (unregistered) on May 20th, 2007 @ 8:20 am

    @BAAZI’s: To further your suggestion.

If they are so interested in knowing the Taliban story, why not film about unventilated metal shipping containers full of so-called Taliban captives left on roadside under the scorching heat to die with thirst and hunger.

  20. baazi (unregistered) on May 20th, 2007 @ 10:16 am

Yes Karachibattian and when they were suffocating, one of their captors fired bullets on the container to make ariways. Only the holes were oozeing blood after firing. This deserves a film.

And AH if they have tons of money to make propaganda films and I dont, does it mean I should abandon the truth?

And why do you give their ‘dingleberry’ journalists so much credit? Its all FALSE OPPOSIOTION. Learn to know the truth.

    Do see Terror Storm

Mr.Pearl would a ‘mighty heart’ for Americans only not for pakistanis or muslims as it’s not a hidden secret why was he here.

Speaking of Americans, our old friends Ameircans leaving our loyal President all alone. Somone should come forward and offer his/her shoulder to Mr.Mush.

On a side note, Mr.Wolfwitz left the office. Mana kia tha k larki k chakkar mey na paro kio k agar ek kamyab mard k haath he tu nakam k peechay DO aurtaoun ka. poor wolfwitz, he didn’t listen me.

i suggest you watch road to guatanomo re. the taliban and their deaths. There are films on the other side of the story. But realistically who doesnt know that a white life means more than a brown one in hollywood. Maybe if we werent poor and illiterate we would have our own media machine.
That all being said DP was killed inhumanly and i am sure the film wont be fair but it will be fairer than that so lets quit crying.

  24. Kumail (unregistered) on May 20th, 2007 @ 12:12 pm

Great point Ash – for those of u talking about the “unventilated containers” (as opposed to the ventilated variety – u morons seriously need to catch up on the jargon) you need to watch road to gutanamo – – ironically its the same director, michael winterbottom i think, who is making this movie as well.
As for that odd comment that daniel pearl wasnt a mighty heart, well the book is not about pearl but his wife. Its her story and she is the one who is referred to as the one having the mighty heart.
finally some of you are subliminally suggesting that pearl was agent with some US intelligence agency. Do you seriously think they are dumb enough to put a white, jewish man on the sleuthing task in karachi. They maybe dumb but not that dumb. They can hire paki locals to do a better job at possibly half the price.
Some of you apparently just make comments to spew your ugly little thoughts out onto this forum. Well at least add some class to`it by reading up on the facts before transmitting out a dose of herbal diorreah

  25. Adnan Siddiqi (unregistered) on May 20th, 2007 @ 12:17 pm

What was the name of the movie which was based on a “true incident”[cough, cough] in which a lady american soldier was kidnapped[as Americans said!] and was freed by an Iraqi lawyer?

Americans have habit to potray others evil and declaring themselves brave and saint, From ‘Executive Decision’ to latest ‘300’ against Iranian, America just tried to offend others. Prior to current ‘war on terror’, they made anti-USSR/anti-communism movie and tried to mock it.

Irony is that our own people buy Americans theory and try to defend it which is more stupidity and ignorance than the propaganda itself.

  26. Adnan Siddiqi (unregistered) on May 20th, 2007 @ 12:31 pm

As for that odd comment that daniel pearl wasnt a mighty heart

mr.Kidal, thanks for informing me, though I already KNEW about it and my statment has NO relation with content of the book.

Who said here he was an agent but yes he did come with a BAISED mind to report “negative” things liek other journalists about Pakistan,Afghanistan, taliban and ultimately about Islam. It’s not hidden and don;t try to defend it.

Christina Lamb went Afghanistan for Same purpose so was Ms.Riddley. But Allah had planned something else that Ms.Riddley who was captured by Talibans for shooting about their activities illegally become a Muslim Woman after studying Islam and Taliban Behavious. Western Media taunted her a lot. Read her story what she thinks about Taliban. her book is even available in Pakistan with Urdu Translation. I would trust more in a person who was in the field rather than those who don’t face the heat in battle and always ready to make things up.

The murder of Pearl is inhuman but not more worst than killing of Iraqis, afghanis and then Pakistanis in Norteren areas by Americans,NATO and Pakistani soldiers. Whining about murder of a single guy just because he’s White and American and keep lips sealed for thousands of people killed in 3 countries is very confusing. Why a Life of white guy is more worthy than life of thousands of people in 3 countries? why don;t you guys cry for them? Hypocrisy or something else?

Adnan not only Americans, every POWERFUL COUNTRY ever since Ancient times has tried to mend HISTORY for its likening, including all (read majority) MUSLIM rulers.

Thanks GOD its 21st century that we have some stupid HRC (with all their bias) type organizations. Imagine how difficult times the previous historians lived in.

  29. Adnan Siddiqi (unregistered) on May 20th, 2007 @ 1:14 pm

MB, I don’t disagree but Americans are far ahead than other nations Like Britain and China.

If Muslim rulers you meant Akbar,Babar and other Kings then I don’t disagree But my point was not about history specifically. Even current events are being potrayed wrong by Americans and then Britain. Our very own Mr.Blair paid the price of the lies he managed against Saddam. The other darling of us,Mr. Arbab Rahim is also following his path. The way we just heared about oath taking cermony of QAIM MUQAAM governor, i think Arbab’s days are number and phir Dastaan bhe na hogi Daastanoun mey

bTW, I am very mch impressed by Mr.Altaf Bhai’s approach of ‘POLITICAL OUTSOURCING’,as MQM leaders said that Altaf bhai’s politics is modern politics and is example of Political Outsourcing. Thank GOD! we are ahead in some kinda outsourcing than India. LOL!

    But show some decency.

If you do not agree with someone, that does not give you the right to go out and say derogatory things about his/her family.

Since everyone here seems to be “Oh SO educated”,If you belive that not every Muslim is a terrorist, then you should also belive that not all Jews are evil & not all the ppl with white colored skin hate you.

    $1=PKR.60

Same equations is used for Pakistani people that is, worth of American is more important than 60 Pakistanis[or even more!]

  34. Sufi (unregistered) on May 20th, 2007 @ 9:51 pm

I don’t know how we muslims can complain about America’s ravaging attitude when our very own dear muslim brothers treat us in a far worst way. I am sure most of the frequent travelers and Pakistanis who live outside would agree that West treats us way better than our very own country, or our very own fellow muslim countries. A visit to Saudi Arabia or one of the Western European countries would clearly distinguish this fact.

I also don’t understand why some of the people on this forum expect to see a movie which has no market. If you look at the revenues of “letters from iwo jima” and “flags of our fathers”, both by the same director, both movies made on the same topic, but one with a US & Japanese perspective each.. one did fairly well at the box office, other wasn’t even close.

And why would the US show or make something that is not in its interest? I don’t see any good reason for that. There are some movies (road to Guantanamo – a docudrama) made on the topic.

Baazi, poor Professor Stevens had to lose his job because of his claims. And the estimates of 655,000 are somewhat conservative, I think I read its way over a million.

But then again, 32 or so people died in our very own city, nothing happened. The President did not even apologize. The bias lies within ourselves. When we start giving importance to our people, clearly others will follow. It is always us who dictates the way people can treat us. Surely, it is also us who gives more importance to the life of a white than our own people.

  35. Sufi (unregistered) on May 20th, 2007 @ 9:53 pm

I am looking forward to see the movie, but I am not very happy that they did not come to shoot in Karachi. I think Angelina Jolie has done a marvelous job with that accent that she has in the movie.

As for the totally unfair invasions and the death of innocents all over the globe – who has done more to bring that to light? adnan siddiqui or Noam Chomsky? Whats wrong is wrong.

  39. Red_Munk!! (unregistered) on May 22nd, 2007 @ 6:49 am

    *Ahem*

& you can fault them why?

On 13th May each and every major newspaper in the world, (NYTimes,LaTimes, Wash Post etc included), ran stories about the events in Khi.

They all critisized Mush & wrote about the “State Sponsored Massacare” & the “Esteemed” party’s “Glorious” past.

We are regularly victimised by bomb-blasts, kidnappings & various other types of terrorims.
For us thats “Normal”, but thats cause we’ve become immune to it. For the rest of the world its “abnormal”.

The Danny Pearl incident, no matter how one tries to justify it, it did occur in this city.

The world looks at him as a Wash Post journalist who was kidnapped in a Muslim country while on job, He was then drugged, video taped & be-headed live on camera. (btw, thats another trend we Paki’s can take credit for!).

Sure, as Muslims we are victimised, but we dont really sow roses for ourselves either.

London Bombings, 9/11, intolerance towards certain Religions, Bold Statements, trying to convert everyone to our beliefs & threatning whoever doesnt….to top it all, we are poor, dirty & un-educated.

We really should be looking at ourselves before going John Rambo on everyone else.

Btw, the movie isnt even out ffs.

Go READ the book. She doesnt bash Karachi, Infact in a recent CNN interview she still had nothing but good words for the city & its people.

Oh & also revisit SUFI’s post. Said a lot that I dint.

    Wow Messiah, lead us.

The thousands of innocent people that died in the aftermath were made of candy floss right?

Zulm sehna is gunnah, but quit provoking people & giving them further reasons to send you back to oblivion.

You see you have a severe comprehension diorder. What you are not realizing is that it is people like you who enble the zalim and his zulm. And it is not the muslims who are provoking others, its the other way round, only you are blind to this fact. Stop being a sorry ass and read history to know their tactics. They are master accusers and accused red indians, africans, australian aboriginals and wiped them.

In the past 200 years they have written more than 50000 books against Islam and you have the audacity to call muslims provokers? Shame on you.

Sorry for not trolling a post that had been pushed down, thus the 3 days. & u saw that as an explaination….to What?!

Its not my accusations. Its what the general world perceives. Deny it if you want to live in your own fantasy world.

50’000 books against Islam?. Its probably much more than that.

Does that really make a difference?

They can go ahead and write 10M books. Take it as a freedom of speech.

If you start replying with violence, thats when ppl actually belive these ppl’s bs.

Remember Theo Van Gogh? Ppl still bring him up every chance they get, not because of that bs movie he made, but because he was ‘brutally murdered’ by a ‘muslim extremist’.

Acts like these only help anti-muslim extremists. If ppl dont keep giving them reasons & oppertunities, how do you expect them to sell their bs?

What the west does is wrong, but not everyone is evil. We are all humans, some are good, some are bad.

If you keep genrealising & spitting venom on everyone, you will end up being as bad as the people you’re bashing.

Its not my accusations. Its what the general world perceives. Deny it if you want to live in your own fantasy world.

So how do the accused clear themselves of the accusation? By bringing forward the truth about 911 and try to change the wrong perception of the world or by saying its muslim doing?

I don’t understand your position. Most of the terror accusations against mulsims are wrong. And in your post you mentioned them as if they are true. Why dont you admit you made a mistake and move on?

People like Theo and his killer are useful idiots, funded and supported by unseen forces. They fall in the trap, to further the agenda of new age. But leave it there, it will be something beyond your comprehension.
