Wonderful Idea!

Talk of KESC to be nationalized has already started up in circles, and cited as the last option to stop load shedding.

I may be wrong, but wasn’t that it *was* nationalized was nationalized the reason it was so messed up in the first place? Wouldn’t getting more power generation options up and running be a better solution to stop load shedding here? fix up the distribution network in the city and work out a concrete way to stop the ‘kundas’?

“Kisse haal mein khush nahi hain hum loag” – We’re not happy in any state of mind..

Give it back to the people who screwed it up in the first place. Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!

In a civilized country, such utilities are regulated monopolies where people do play by the rule, by and large.

Pakistan is an overpopulated country of uneducated and educated jahils who don’t want to follow any rules. Result: KESC.

ACtually, I am surprised when there is electricity in Karachi. I am astonished when there is a working water supply. Considering how crook every one is, and how proud every one, uneducated and educated jahil, is of breaking the rules – nothing should work in Karachi.

    for the record !

It isnt KESC’s fault that they are in Massive Shortage of power !

During last 9 years ( tenure of our “Beloved” LEader ) not even Single MEgawatt increase in power supply has been given to Karachi !

Our due to their brilliant planning ! They encouraged thew increase in domestic consumption of Electricity by allowing and promoting sale of Air Condition unit by downpayment!

AC or Split unit is simply a Luxury which was promoted !!!

I simplmy can’t understand What the heck was he thinking!!

while workinng on KESC my friend told me how the lower staff were not happy

its ironic isnt it: how KESC’s power failures multiplied severely AFTER the privatisation???

its clearly the staff at work who are worried about VSS

Well, it doesn’t matter if its nationalized or not . If there is no vision or motive to serve , whatever it may be, it wont work.

Secondly as BALMA put it, it fully agree to him.

Also i just finished watching TV where the WAPDA guy was putting his point of view. He came up with what i had initially pointed out in my post in my blog once that is why the gov has decided to direct its own men to stop wasting electricity especially AC’s etc.
    http://publicmb.wordpress.com/2007/06/02/kesc-arbs-predictions

It was interesting to note that the WAPDA guy specifically mentioned the AC’s something which you will see in above link.

It will be a miracle if gov officers pay heed to this WAPDA request & change their thinking of wasting public money.

The need is to invest in POWER. And more than that the need is to stop power theft. I don’t want to name someone but i have credible info that the power theft is done in full official assistance.

Power loses itself will make a huge difference because increase in power wont matter if theft increases with same proportion.

Today KESC people came to my house to put new meters ( PEL made ) , he bluntly asked my ami for 10,000 to make it run slow quoting the whole street has done that . If the employees are not loyal to the company who else will be

Farhan, did your ami take the offer? tsk, tsk…:)

If meters are running slow that’s incentive to use more…

@Farhan those PEL made meters run 2x faster then the old ones…

no wonder he was offering to slow it down , but Ami refused :)

    FARHAN
From my post i quote :
” The lower staff is forced to be corrupt. There has been no hiring for last 12 years. Majority is on contract. They are not given proper facilities. They have no hope & no desire to do their work. So the result had to be something worrisome which is why they have found a short cut. They are selling KESC cables, lines small equipment”

But honestly its not completely their fault. Look at their working condition, look at their salary & the danger they work in & tell if would you act like an angel at their place.

Surely this doesn’t make their crime less but we do need to point fingers first on those who are the reason of this mess i.e KESC senior officers.

    Farhan:

this is an open secret which is decades old!

i suggest u to take this option or pay the inflated bills.

what really pissed me of was when a few years back we got a bill of around 15k in winter time when even the fans were not running!!!
