Planned Parking
When it comes to shopping areas in Karachi, the people have a lot of options to choose from. Tariq Road, Zamzama, Banaras, Ashiana, Gulf are but a few names that immediately come to mind. Except for malls like Park Towers and Millenium, all other shopping centers are characterized by one major problem- Parking woes. All except Hyderi.
The picture in Where in Karachi- 105 posted earlier today is proof to the humongous space allocated for parking only. Unlike Tariq Road or Saddar, you will hardly ever find the main Hyderi Road blocked because of traffic. On the contrary. Traffic jams in the area are virtually non-existent.
This goes to show that if only all commercial ventures in the city would provide for proper parking areas, the traffic menace in Karachi can reduced by half. The other half of the problem can be attributed to the dug up roads, lack of adequate public transportation and obviously the phenomenal discipline displayed by the drivers.
hyderi’s main road is 320 feet wide.. i think no other road in khi is that wide…
city govt is encroaching jheel park behind tariq road and building multistory parking plazas…
Unlike Tariq Road or Saddar, you will hardly ever find the main Hyderi Road blocked because of traffic
Yeah because main road is irrelevant. The road between H and G block is always packed just like roads of Tariq Rd or any other shopping mall. People don’t hesitate to park their cars on roads and most of the time I see double lane starts from Taimuria Masjid and ends at Peshwari Ice cream shop.
And I would like to add that majority of them are those who are known as educated in our society and abuse *others* as backwards . They are also clean shaved, wearing T-shirts and jeans and using Maa Behan k Galian on failure of finding any way to reach to destination. As Ghalib said:

Traffic on the inner roads of the market is a nightmare! :-| I’ve learnt that it is better to take a cab to and from the Haidery market, rather than take your own car there. The latter will be stuck in traffic for, like, FOREVER!
Smaller cars like Alto are one of the ways to make life easier.
I choose to get a CNG Alto vs a Civic just because of the traffic issue. I love it this car!!!
Wait till u run into problems famous for Altos …
@Sid: I wonder you didn’t notice Mobile restaurant of Biryani Center which as they claim, is the first mobile restaurant in Pakistan which is no doubt an innovative attempt.
I am not a “Biryani Center” fan and never liked it when I used to work at Bank Alfalah. Worst meal, bad service and cheater waiters always made me to hate that place.
Since you and Urooj both lives in north nazimabad, I am giving you girls a clue for your next “Where in Karachi” series, take the snap, ask your readers and then make a post about that mobile restaurant. I am not going to tell exact place but you girls know how to make next episode difficult. :-)
Mela used to have mobile restaurants couple of years back. One of the vans used to stand near Gulshan pizza hut.
Kashif, Mela vans didn’t have dinning facility.
my comments are missing ??? what happened???

Bhayaa, when PPP walas and Muslim League/Jamati/army types have sold every pice of land meant for parks and other useful purposes in PECHS area, where do you think a parking lot can be built?
I agree that parking garages should not be built in jheel park, but you have to admit that PPP and Jamatis/MuslimLeague/army types have sold chappah chappah of Karachi incl in PECHS area.
