In the “story suggestion” section of KMB was the brief description of this show that was broadcasted from BBC.

“As Part of the India & Pakistan ’07 season, tonite’s show was about Karachi, the host of the show goes on a journey to discover the cosmopolitan city of Karachi in Pakistan, as he discovers that being modern, does not mean being western. Karachi Uncovered (BBC Documentary 2007)”

Do watch the video at utube, its interesting to see Karachi from the eye of a Glasgow born desi who thought Karachi was all about poverty, rickshaws and camels! He decides to discover Karachi on his own and finds it glamorous, alluring and sophisticated. He lands at LUX style awards and thinks it’s the Pakistani version of Oscar Awards:-)….
The quest just begins and it is interesting to see what the top notches of the media think about our country!
Long Live Pakistan.

    “being modern, does not mean being western”.

    are modernization and westernization two different terms in the non-western world??

    @NOCTURNA
    Dude it means Westernization is not a standard that we should follow when we opt to be modern.

    No technical, moral or holy logic declares the WESTern style of life as modernization. So make sure you get the path right when you opt modernisation.

    Islam definitely wants you to be modern in accordance with its teachings. So understand this as the guiding principle and not that get impressed by WESTern ways of defining the word modern.

    Its pity that the guy understood our culture but we are leaving our own. Thats why he used this statement in his movie.
