Beggars Inc.

It’s that time of the year again and beggars are descending on this city in droves (The News).

I have learnt to ignore beggars easily enough, but every once in a while an insistent one finds you. The things that bothers me the most is when they start knocking on the car window or touching you. But this is a city of many contradictions and the market prevails in most things, so let the people decide if they want these beggars around or not.

Beggars are a menace to society. If you choose not to get your clean windshield “cleaned” again with gutter water, the cheeky kids the beggar mafia has employed end up dirtying your windshield and window, making it dangerous for you to drive any further as visibility becomes limited. On top of that, as the signal becomes green, they try to cross the street, adding another hazard.

Why do we not see beggars in Islamabad, Lahore of this magnitude? Obviously the Karachi police is getting a cut from this.

Interesting story: Recently we were about to launch a product and talked to a BTL company to put lots of people dressed as mascots on the streets handing out flyers etc. We were told that if the police find these people they immediately put then in a van and take them to the police station (as a permit is required from CDGK with a hefty fee per individual, and the individual has to carry that permit at all times). So how are all these beggars allowed to roam wherever they please? It’s all part of this business…

    Nice catch
Whats wrong with BEGGAR INC. i ask.

All they do is ask for money/help ETC.
Reminds me of the book MILITARY INC.

If we compare both BEGGAR INC. with MILITARY INC. i guess the left side needs to be wiped up first before the right side one.

Interestingly the military runs at our money and that too by force. Sarcastically they can be called corporate beggars, lol

duh….we dont want them here…most of them are healthy and can do alot of other stuff but are still begging…i request people not to give anything to these beggars…because if they keep on getting money ,,they would keep on bothering us…and the number of beggars would keep on increasing…

maybe we should build a complex of several residential mid-rises and get these guys some labor jobs – the opportunities are huge for them, but alas why would they labor to earn haq halal ki kamaai when they can have fools like “charitable karachiites” on hand.
