Karachi Water Partnership

Here is a new NGO to address the issues related to unavailability of safe and clean water to the citizens of Karachi.

It’s too early to judge them right now. Let’s see how they do.

    One thing these guys could do is sending volunteers to all stations and bus stops where people take trains to Karachi and enforce have-ticket-will-travel rule. I bet one reason we have all these people in Karachi is because no one checks for tickets on trains. People should be told about other cities of Pakistan such as Islamabad (mini-Pakistan), Lahore, and Multan where these people could go without buying a ticket.

    Also, from now on, these org’s people could work on removal of illegal shanti towns from Karachi. This trend of moving to Karachi and living in kachhi aabaadis has also contributed to water problems for all of KArachi.

    Finally, they could work towards legislating minimum age for marriages. When you have 30 years old naanis, this is what you get. High population growth rate, too many people moving to Karachi, with no skills and nothing to contribute.

    Finally, every one should be told to have only one or two kids (please read my scheme on how to do this elsewhere on KMB). Less kids mean more water for everyone.

    finally, no cousin mrriages so the genetic pool is better for the next generation. But, stop, may be I am going off tangent now!

    Bhaiyou’n aur babes, Pakistan has not just fallen behind South Korea, we are now more backward than Vietnam. Shame on everyone.

    no cousin marriage? hmmmm you are partially correct bro. I would suggest there should be absolutely no Mahajir-Mahajir matrimonial contracts.

    Its been 60 years now and Mahajrs needs to become streamline Pakistanis and the best way to do it is by saying BYE to mahajir-mahajir marriages. Too much crap going on in mahajir community. There should be no more “Ilahabaad & Aala Khandan” crap.

    Altaf Hussain set up a great example by marrying a Balochi girl, he should enforce this trend among other mahajirs..

    Everybody together,
    *** Karachi needs cross pollination ***

    Well Dilawar (even if just in name), I had proposed govt support for inter-ethnic marriages many years ago. One way I proposed the govt could do it was by giving free money for Jahez if the couple is multi-lingual.
    People laughed. Just like they laugh today at my suggestion of banning cousin marriages in Pakistan. Pakistan is going to be in even a deeper you-know-what. Pretty soon we will be worse than Rawanda. Vietnam has already run past us.

    Now…would you also support my other suggestion. No more nonsense of using Muhammad as a default first name, and Khan as the default last name in Pakistan. I find it pretty stupid that everyone who shows up in or from NWFP is given default last name of Khan by the people who make ID cards, just like Singh for Sikhs! There was a reason Akbar Badshah banned this practice. It shows lack of creativity.

    Again, less people – more water. Otherwise, the way Karachi’s population is growing even whole of Baheera-e-Arab will not be enough!

    Sorry but I need to correct you that your name suggestion is quite lame.

    Using Muhammad or Khan as the default frist or last name is not nonsense. Calling it nonsense is nonsense actually. Were both your parents cousin + mahajir? LOL.

    This is what I think is happening in Karachi:
    Mahajir + Cousin + Marriage = Ugly + Dump Kids

    We need to stop this trend!

    “Karachi Water Partnership”

    I don’t see any reason for dragging religion in this topic.

    @balma

    For you : “Khisyani billi khamba nochay”

    * And why the hell did you drag our prophet’s name into this discussion?

    **** Millions of people all over show their lack of creativity by dragging the prophet’s name into their names, and millions across the sub continent show stupidity by using Khan as a default Muslim name. I am just commenting on a stupid practice, who is dragging any thing?

    * I don’t see any reason for dragging religion in this topic.

    ****** And, please tell me where I dragged religion in this topic? Why is talking about names considered dragging religion into anything?

    Sick… SICK people you are! SICK to your fucking guts! Urdu speakers are far better marrying people who speak Urdu only. Or we would have also being dragged towards jihalat like the rest of you!

    * you didn’t take any name, u talked abt Mohammad thats why.

    ****** So I guess, you are saying that any time I call someone whose name is Muhammad, I am actually dragging religion into conversation?

    I believe most thieves and other criminals in Pakistan, and in fact, Musilm world are named Muhammad. Now, according to you that will be a bad thing to say, because according to you, by making this statement I will be dragging religion into something?

    @Dear Balma,
    It is perfectly fine to have Muhammad as the first or last name for every and all Muslims.

    If you think that is not creative, name your kids after Krishna or Lakshman. After all, you live in a free world, remember.

    And finally, try to be smart and not a smart ass.
