Hightened Security
There are rangers posted everywhere on SF. It seems like something really bad is going to happen (or perhaps they will not let it happen). If it is due to the presedential elections, wasn’t Karachi a pro Musharraf city?

Definitely due to Yum-e-Ali.
yum-e-ali or might be some DOG is coming to karachi.
Does that make sense, “something bad is going to happen”?
I mean blogging requires some knowledge about the events happening in the city, you are blogging about karachi and you do not even know what people are observing today due to which security arrangements are made. Sometimes i feel that things are written here in haste or without even thinking twice, your lazy ass wakes up at 10 and just post a front page news of what you see outside while picking up a newspaper.
I disagree with Sajid. I love reading posts by ordinary bloggers here where all types of views and sometimes feelings and opinions are posted candidly. If you need to read the news, check out commercial newspaper sites, we don’t need to be so stuck up to not want to get the personal experience. For those of us living outside Pakistan we get a much clearer picture of what the heck’s going on by reading what people are feeling and this is a perfect post for that. To Umar and the rest of the bloggers: PLEASE keep posting!
is MA Jinnah Rd still closed or all routes are cleared now?
So let me get this straight….
u can’t go out in day, and have a decent meal because of Ramzaan. And you can’t even go out on Yum-e-Ali because of Shias?
Ya Allah (if YOU are there and have not fallen asleep), where is this nation headed?
Yaume Ali
there was a bomb threat
Yaume Ali
there was a bomb threat
and the official timings of the procession are starting at 1 and terminating at khorasan at 9
The correct spelling is ‘presidential’. Metblogs should have an automatic spellchecker built in for their posts — this is such a common spelling that it makes me cringe to see it spelled the way you have spelled it.
@reality (Mr.Know everything)
Nation is headed where we are taking it. You know everything abt this country, still u end up asking dumb questions to someone u don’t believe in.
Mujhe lagta hay we are only here to decide if Allah exists or not, but trust me, you will get a satisfactory answer when u get buried in a 6’x3′ land.
Oops!
my last comment was addressed to Alam, sorry reality_check
@Tariq Khanani
*** you will get a satisfactory answer when u get buried in a 6’x3′ land.
Again, u have displayed ur lack of interest in intelligent and rational discussion.
Per my will, I am either going to be incinerated or into the stomach of fishes in deep sea. My advice to u: Plz don’t occupy lands with ur useless bodies (in ur case, both before and after death).
many roads were closed today.. was stuck in a major traffic jam.. a day wasted!.
@ALAM
I’m not sure if you are a Muslim or not. If you are then read this:
You look like you just came out from the womb, the world is not created 20 -25 years ago, stupid. Read the history. Didn’t we read those times when the people from the previous Ummat started to talk like you, Mr. Alam? then they later saw the wrath of Allah to those people doing mischief on the land of Allah Subhanahu. Allah key ghar dair hay Andhair nahee.
*Allah key ghar dair hay Andhair nahee
**** Yeh, Alam kay liyae dhamkee hae?
How do you apply to become of the authors here? Any ideas?
It makes me sad to see Karachi in such a bad taste. But year after year, due to processions on Yum-e-Ali (RA) and on Moharamms, there is a problem with traffic. Due to a minority blocking the main roads of Karachi (in this case, Shias) the entire city has to endure hardships. That is non-sense. I am told that such a blanket cover for shias is needed because of the security threat. But I do not understand that why can Shias (or any other religious group) stick to one place and do whatever they want to instead of creating havoc with the city of 17 million people?
One reason could be that many Police chiefs are themselves Shias so they go over board with security concerns. And that’s unfortunate.
Shia & Sunni difference should be eliminated as their is none. It is only a political act to divide Muslims so they can destroy themselves as no other can.
The minor differences are negligible and a personal matter. Muslims are only muslims. One Ummah.
They should dedicate a piece to cry, to laugh, to do anything anybody wants to do outside Karachi, regardless if it’s Shias or Sunnies or whatever. Let the city work like it does and do whatever you wana do outside city.
I think currently, there is a lot of land available on Super Highway. This way, the city remains safe and doesn’t face any problem.
well its a day of relegious significance for Shias and should be respected but they should not be allowed on the road.. blocking main MA jinnah road for procession is simply unjustifiable .. do shias in karbala iraq also use MA jinnah road for procession? they should hold majlis indoors and don’t cause inconvenience to public .. same goes for other groups too (those celebrating 12th rabiulawal)

yes- why not a region dedicated for all such activities? why to hijack main city roads? all political and religious jalsa jaloos should be arranged outside of the city. Those who are honest with such parties/groups will even reach to that place anyway. occupying roads on moharrams,rabiuwals and on different political processions. The most pathetic thing is that they start their activities during office hours. Luckily I didn’t have to go home from office otherwise I could also suffer like doctor saab.
Elections are near and we would see more suffering in coming months. Be prepared!
