Tullah and Motorcycle wala

http://karachi.metblogs.com/archives/images/2007/11/IMG00151-thumb.jpgI share with you a very common sight seen across on the streets of Karachi, a Tullah (policeman) talking to a motorcycle wala for some sort of violation. On this occasion it is quite apparent that the motorcycle guy was in violation, if he got a ticket or not I cant tell you. But what actually compelled me to take this pictures was that moments earlier another motorcycle quite simply whizzed right past this group making the same wrong turn and both cops simply did not take notice lest even try to stop, leaving this poor chap quite visibly irritated. Lo n behold after taking this picture and while uploading it here I notice that I have also captured another motorcycle in the distance going the wrong way on Shahrai Faisal and that too on top of the foot path.

This is indeed a normal day in Karachi

Yeah, it is very common in Karachi. TULLAHS are more interested to settle the matter unlawfully and victim also find it less irritating to give “Chai Pani” to them. Only thing which could protect the victim from giving ‘Chai Pani’ is visiting card of any KARNAL SAAB or MINISTER SAAB.

    TEETHO very well snapped.

try handling such situations with respect and politeness., stay quiet for a while, be a good listener wear a smile, they melt like candle and let you go, – ( if not then its your turn to flex muscle if you are not wrong )

use your discretion IF possible get them a bottle of water to drink, least.

Believe me they are humans like all of us., and deserve ‘some’ respect.

This is life as usual. Been there done that!. Paid them too, until the APMSO gottt innnn, spoiled the brat, and then things changed. I don’t need to go in detail.

Respect!!!, ohh yes in karachi!!, if you show respect (in an awkward situation!) to some one they think you are a low-profile(G____ or CH____) and they try to run you over. This is reality.

I know its not right, but I’m not a messenger with a lots of patience.

did you ever dare to call them TULLAH to their face when they stopped you??

I know you are not a messanger but a COWARD.

I’m not proud of that so I will just avoid any argument that you put.

Am I coward, yes I am. Would that earn the ‘tullahs’ some respect NO.

Respect is somthing you earn, you don’t get it because you wear a WARDEE. If you respect the Tullas go worship them, this Paki wouldn’t worship the WARDEE.

ok why do we call policemen “tullah”? whats with this term, what does it mean and how is it derogatory?

p.s. am really asking, not being sarcastic

  11. Zee (unregistered) on November 24th, 2007 @ 7:15 pm

In USA, policmen are known as COPS. A term now even used by the cops themselves. Tullah is not a big deal so really, argueing about that is wasting time.

But yes, BIKERS…. Oh gawddd… I hate these miserable pathetic bikers on our streets!!! I save at least 5 daily.. why? Because it seems that at least 5 bikers want to die and are looking to commit suicide! Can’t stand them

  12. IUnknown (unregistered) on November 24th, 2007 @ 8:27 pm

    lol @zee.

do u know how many ants u save every day? ;)

and bikers think that they face atleast five car drivers who are either completely blind or drink heavily before grabing the driving wheel with an intention to KILL OR GET KILLED.

Being a traffic police cop is the toughest job in Karachi. Not only because of long shifts, VIP movements, public dis-respect but also because of smoke inhilation their life span is also shorter. The ratio of fatal lung deseases including cancer is much higher in traffic cops than any other population group. Whatever you say about their conduct, they provide a vital service to the people of this city under very stressful working conditions. Halal kee rozi kis ko acchee nahein lagtee, but every one is not fortunate to earn one in our country.

Trees help to clean the air & provide shade.
Think about the children and asthma patients who have to inhale this air.

hmm interesting, the fact of the matter is, poor tullays are helpless, everyone of u that drives or bikes or uses any kind of transportation breaks the law. Not one person i have seen that follows the rules and regulation. So how can you point fingers at the tullays, i agree they are not fair at times, or that they accept bribes, but who are you to point fingers. Our nation is soo pothetic, so ignorant, so helpless, i can go on, but the point is we are all helpless, it is not just one persons fault, it is all of us. We proudly say that if you can drive in karachi u can drive anywhere. Haha we are proud of ur ignorance :), it is very very disturbing when you loose sight of what is right and what is wrong, and our nation is at that stage.
