Here comes the rain
I was just about to go to sleep, but I thought I might as well post an update on the weather before I do. My earlier wish of winter gracing the city may be granted soon by the looks of it, because the heavens have just stated to pour here in my part of Karachi. It’s been quite a steady down pour now for the last 10 minutes at least, and it seems to be getting heavier as I type.
This wasn’t entirely unexpected with the cloudy outlook that prevailed for much of the day today, but is nevertheless inconsistent with the forecasts coming out of my Google meteorological updates! May well be a chilly dawn coming morning now, and we’ll doubtless come across some amount of inundated roads too as we head off for school or work. Rain is considered a blessing in many cultures and traditions, but we all know how well our city is designed to cope with even a little more then modicum amount of it (sample 1, sample 2), so let us hope it remains a blessing and is not turned into a curse.
Update at 2:24 AM: The rain has now subsided, wasn’t a very extended spell after all. I suppose now it is time to wait and see the effects of it in the morning (if indeed any of the tall claims made by the powers-to-be after the last rain spell have been put into action or not), don’t forget to share any first hand experiences in the comments. Good night for now.

lol @ js…better be carefull with the tap next time! :P.
Seriously though, dryness + the temp was comparitively higher in the morning. It feels ‘chillier’ right now! :s.
I can reconfirm that I was not hallucinating in the wee hours! I saw the rain, heard the rain and briefly touched it too via the good old window in the bedroom. To questions about which side of the city this was, I live near Bilawal House, so that would be the South of the city. And yes, every thing was dry and sunny by the morning, which is good, shows that all the lines they relayed over the course of the last year or so are working and haven’t clogged up yet. There real test probably will be when we have more rain everywhere in the city. But so far so good.
Some said it showered in North Karachi area! not yet confirmed.
a sad incident happened in Karachi yesterday when a goverment college teacher Hassan Haider aged 28 was killed in cross fyring in a college at karachi during the clash between to terrorist groups namely APMSO and IJT , I wish that some author on KMB can also through some light on this incident.

the skies are clear in my part of karachi…..PECHS…..
Must have been zainab’s weird imagination again :D
Well … everybody is correct. Remember the story of blind men describing an elephant.
There were showers (around 2-3am) and there were clear skies too (after sunrise). It rained around 2am in the South and I witnessed light showers (in the North) after 3am (that too for 5-10 minutes). My father told me that the roof was dry before sunrise.
I am in Islamabad. It has been raining since last night but unlike Karachi it didn’t become pain in neck. Roads are clear, weather is chilled. I can have lovely sites of Margala hills. I inhaled less polluted (or maybe pure) amount of oxygen which we poor karachiite can;t have at all.
