PTA takes PTCL to task

PTCL has recently taken few initiatives to increase its base & revenues (read PTCL Phone n Net). One such step (blunder?) was to activate Pakistan Package facility without customer consent. Personally i was quite angered on this stupid act. For me its nothing less than corruption especially when one has to waste money and time in de-activating it. Users have shared their pain in *** experiences here. This only shows the overall lawlessness in our society. Everyone is a baadshah. There should be strictness on issues regarding customers from companies or organizations.

PTA has now taken PTCL to task & the news is it has asked PTCL not to pre-activate package without customers’ consent and without prior approval of the Authority. Read more

Meanwhile I tried deactivating mine but before i could, my line went dead few days back. I called & had them register a complain twice but in vain. How many of you were able to de-activate the service?. For those who dont know, this SERVICE has been activated by-default without your knowledge or consent & you will be paying 199 for it. Also the de-activation is through IVR so you wont be able to vent your anger on their reps. How many of you have been able to de-activate ?

well it took me 3-4 minutes to get it deactivated, and then after few minutes somebody called from PTCL to confirm its deactivated, and today i read the news that if u dont use the service u will not be charged for next month 199rs. …so its not bad at all

I have tried for a half a dozen times than my call was able to be received. I am not sure yet that it will be deactivated because call was immediately dropped after I pressed button for deactivation. After I tried once again but line was busy. Now I am thinking to make another try….:(

The service is not bad at all. Instead its another step towards “Roshan Pakistan”. Now you have got the chance to make friends across the country, dial wrong numbers, play pranks with your buddies in Swat or simply start a counseling service :)

From which angle its a fair policy. First they are activating the service without users permission. Second they are doing false advertising. At one end they are saying its free if you ay Rs 199 for the whole day whole month. After than in fine prints they have to say this “Fro Fair usage policy to deter over use. Ceiling minutes of use is 5,000 minutes /billing cycle”. Now honestly what the **** is this.

The only thing we need to have in karachi, is another landline phone company.

Although I HATE PTCL, it is taking one good step. Around mid or end of January, PTCL will fire a lot of its jahil and stupid workers. Well, not exactly fire but it’s the golden handshake thingy. Hopefully, new faces will come and hopefully, they’ll have more brains than the current ones.

Ever since the news surfaced, many people are facing line issues. I guess the god damn union is about to show its ugly ass face!

@ZEE – since PTCL is sold out, over 52% is owned by single entity. UNIONs are banned.

Choice is offered to ALL skilled & non-skilled people to appear in appropriate TEST for correct placement / continuation at likely posts., or else they can OPT for Golden shake hand.

You may not know – over 375 employees of PTCL are posted abroad at fully owned telecom setup of etisalat in africa & GCC.

    smile – merit prevails, –

This package service announced without consent of PTA is the last & final mistake of PTCL.

jamal bhai: you do come up with quite fun facts! dont u :D i wonder where you get all of them.. i need those kind of connections too ;)

i dont use a PTCL line at all, so this fuss didn’t affect me yet. But i do see the benefit of this for families distributed across pakistan, which are quite a few in number

    My opinion on the subject..
Benefit should be “by choice” n not “by force”

PTA is not sleeping after all!

    it only happens in Pakistan.

I dont have any relative, friends in other cities, so why I should be forced to pay for such package.

I tried many times to de-active, but always the voice says that system is busy so pls try later. I even tried at 2am but surprisingly the system was busy at that time also.

    Mansoor bhaie jan :)

I keep my ears & eyes OPEN., and I try & keep track of things which have a chain reaction,
    that is all.

SSGC & SNGPL privatisation will be 1st task of Next regime by December 2008.

Now keep track of this, and you will get alot of related stuff around., from the share prices to expansion & development work in respect of natural gas.

wtf is this bakwaas all about. Its pretty good service I think. I get to call all my g/f for free (well 199 is free to me). I can make calls to all the pretty girls in the country and present my sinful demands, again n again till they give in :P.

Tum saala badmaash log kabhi khush nahi hota. Saala geedar kahin ke!
