Gulshan in Election Frenzy

gulshan-election.jpg

Most of the bill-boards in the Gulshan Town are now sporting the tri-colored digitally printed skins carrying Muttahida’s election campaign messages. This one talks about ‘moderation’ and ‘freedom to choose for all’. I am not sure how well the two goals can go along.

On a more practical front, it is nice to see digitally printed skins instead of the ‘lattha‘ skins we saw last time draped on these boards which were sure eye-sores.

the funds, as usual, are “happily” born by the people of Karachi. Some stupids call it bhatta.

Well whats wrong if a political party put bill boards? I am sure the MQM Voters are happy with all the bill boards – after all what MQM had done to give Karachi and Karachites there respect back .
Haider Abbas Rizvi is actually contesting from Gulshan Town and if he wins , Gulshan Town will prosper more.

( PS. MQM-walas are not angels then no one in Pakistan is ; be it political parties or an average joe on the street – so why ppl. expect so much from MQM ? as i had always maintained, MQM is a movement of representation otherwise Northern Pakistani’s think that there are only 4 ethinic groups in Pakistan ).

  8. IUnknown (unregistered) on December 19th, 2007 @ 2:30 pm

“MQM is a movement of representation”

    wats that ?????

baqi loag tu angels nahi hain but MQM walon nay tu had ki hui hay.

Bhatta lay lay ker , they have made most of the industries shift to lahore.

FOR MQM ppl, there is no better place than bottom of the sea. (mind u by saying mqm, i dont mahajir. Those are our brothers.)

@Tee Emm, I think the translation in your post is slightly wrong. IKHTIYAAR SAAB KAY LEAY would be ‘Empowerment for All’ and not ‘freedom to choose for all’ and this thing and go along quite well with moderation. Empowerment as in devolution of power to the grassroots level, abolition of the feudal system, provincial autonomy. Just like a province be able to set power tarrif for its vast coal reserves.

  11. IUnknown (unregistered) on December 19th, 2007 @ 5:05 pm

@bluemax: are u sure or who gives the assurance that if they are provided provincial powers, they will stay peacefull and dont harm ne body and will make the country prosper?

  12. MObi (unregistered) on December 19th, 2007 @ 6:26 pm

yes Wasting public money as usual…. as u know that now adaz mobile, bike and car snatching is on the way… so why not they print these type of stuff instead of ‘latthaa’

  13. ali2 (unregistered) on December 19th, 2007 @ 9:55 pm

yea the digital print is quite impressive visually–money could’ve been definitely used for better purposes though. i m not sure if this fad’s taking place in khi but here in canada environmental posters are gaining a lot of popularity; kinda early in pak but it would be great.

IUNKNOWN it seems that your wishes are not to be granted very soon.

I am very happy to hear from Barrister Sahib that haider Rizvi is the MQM candidate from Gulshan. He is a very dynamic bloke and a strong leader, an ex-KU student, very thorough in his approach, well read and well travelled. Gulshan-e-Iqbal will have a great team: Haider / Wasey.

If Muttahida continues to come up with people like these then sending them to the bottom of the sea will be that much harder.

@IUnknown, I was just correcting something mentioned in Tee Emm’s post. Do I really care about party manifestos … a big no. When almost every politician is dishonest, manifesto is just another useless document. Was NIZAAM-E-MUSTAFA Movement successful to implement NIZAAM-E-MUSTAFA in Pakistan? It was successful in removing Bhutto but nothing else. Was BILA-SOOD (profit & loss sharing) banking established by the great Zia … and on and on and on …

Provincial autonomy … yes that is someting I do care about. Will MQM really work hard to achieve it … I dont think so.

Regarding assurances … I have none and can’t give you any. Currently when many powers rest with the federal govt everything is not peacefull between the provinces. Not one unit agrees with the NFC formula given by the other. Balochistan has issues with Sindh over Gas Dev Surcharge. Sindh disputes with Punjab over water. NWFP wants royalty over hydropower. All of these issues are decades old.

  17. Barrister Ali K.Chishti (unregistered) on December 20th, 2007 @ 1:32 am

With due respect ( and respect is what’s missing in out society , globally ) , MQM actually had come up with a manifesto of :
    – providing free health insurance
Although it’s quite a far fetched dream but even thinking of such ideas shows the brains and commitment. How many political parties of Pakistan even thought of provind NHS Type, Health Insurance to Commoners? None!

Obviously, there’s a resistance from ‘Dr.Dentist aka Teeth Mice-tro’ about anything what MQM does – and to be honest – now it’s not funny anymore. His hate ( I guess ) lies in his ethinic background and nothing more.

MQM again with all the ills is better then PPP,PML’s and Co. – a lesser evil for sure!
    cheers!

The Only reason Why so much propaganda against MQM and Altaf Hussain and Army Operation against MQM is only this speech from Altaf Hussain, This Speech was the sole Cause of all the things happened.
This speech was delivered in Lahore by Altaf Hussain and after that MQM and Altaf Hussain became Anti Pakistan.
So people listen to this and you will know why Altaf Hussain is so hated and produced as Blood Sucker by Establishment, Waderas Mullahs and Sermayadars.

Would you enlighten us more on this and & tell us what MQM does/doesnt that other parties did/didnt ?

Name any evil and every party is in it. Making few roads ( that too with least of standards with money going into pockets ) isnt a big deal. For a common man education, health, price hike, water n sanitation is top in priority list not sub-standard flyovers & bridges with deadly bumps & incomplete footpaths & guttars right in the middle of roads.

Could you please list down some achievements in the areas i listed ?

“Blood Sucker by Establishment, Waderas Mullahs and Sermayadars ”

Alright we know MQM & mullahs dont go along. But isnt it hypocrisy that they preach hate toward waderas and establishment & sitting in their lap?

If you list down the attributes of a wadera, they perfectly match the mafia mentality of MQM, so whats the different between the two except the obvious change in spelling both words?

Its just like the mullahs gearing every soul against USA & sending their children to EUROPE.

Mullah make ignorants fool, MQM does the same to educated. One does it through suicide bombings other does it through bhatta n sector incharges. One respects ARMY for its role in Afghan war (because it suited their evil design to convert every soul into MUSLIM) & hates the ARMY for LAL-MAJIS operation (because now the interest clash) , the other HATES ARMY (its creater) for his role in Karachi Operation & now sitting with the same ARMY in helping it plunder country, throw justice to dustbin, prolong the ISI rule . . . .

    huh!!

Every party is a f*** power hungry, corrupt to core people’s den and they dont give a damn shit to what the ordinary man wants.

yea on gun point MQM will lead the country.. this mafia inspired party has hijacked karachi and central govt seems to be powerless against their blackmailing coz they can cripple down the whole city in a matter of minutes just like they did on 12th may 2007 .. most of its senior leaders have dual nationality and they don’t really care if karachi and pakistan prospers or not, they’re just interested in filling up their own pocket, just like our imported ex prime minister Shortcut Aziz..

  24. d0ct0r (unregistered) on December 21st, 2007 @ 11:31 pm

DOCTOR / MB I can relate to the desperation that you guys feel. I can see that your anger is borne out of frustration, by the in-ability of your own role models to deliver the goods. As for MQM what it can do and it cannot do? / how good and how bad it is?, this is a long debate and we have travelled that road before. However, if you need to know how they work, you can go to any Nazims office and make up your mind.

  26. imran (unregistered) on December 21st, 2007 @ 11:54 pm

    @Dogtor,
Kepp pulling your hair my friend..nothing can stop MQM from increasing popularity in all areas of Pakistan. I would not waste my time arguing with you MB and others who has an agenda against MQM.
Just wait till 08 and you will see who people going to choose again…::)
MQM is going to win again this time with more seats so be ready for that..Doc, get some chill pills because you going to need these pills after 08 elections..

“Just wait till 08 and you will see who people going to choose again”

Hitler won 10 times the votes MQM will get. So whats the point in this voting crap ??

The system ( of elections ) itself is not trust worthy. Why we accept the results of the system ?

Your whole argument is on vote. The fact that there is no one to dare MQM doesnt mean majority like MQM. I have a suggestion. Why not the ELECTION commission include a rule of voting against all. i.e if people dont trust the electoral system they should have the right to vote against the elections. The result should be the removal of all candidates from that area.

Once that is done i am sure the majority will kick out MQM,JI,PPP,PML as the majority hates all of em.

Well we dont recognize this election as election. Its simply 10 thieves standing and asking us to pick one. Why the thieves were allowed to contest at fist place, is our question. How come murderer & people with FIRs got into it. This can by a drama not election. It can be sure a movie not election.

You guys dont have answers to questions raised. All you have to do is brush aside points by lame comments.

I am quite interested in knowing about the 12 May inquiry. What happened to that? All the responsible are in videos. Pervez Hitler can arrest the ARMY men involved in suicide attack on himself & get them hanged but threw the 12 May incident into dustbin. What happened to Steel Mill case, the sugar & flour crisis, The inquiry into the bridge collapse. Dude we are not blind to see who does what.

Imran’s using the word “Dogtor” clearly shows the mentality i have often mentioned here ( & everywhere). The criminal mentality of attacking just about anyone who is against your views. MQM guys just like JI of JUI or MMA for that matter are short of tolerance. Why dont we see any wall chalking against ALTAF in Karachi? Huh! even the DEAD know why. As i have said there are clean shaved talibans (The MQM & chaudhries in Punjab) & the well known Talibans in Pakistan & people are sick of both of em.

How easily can you all forget 12th MAY 2007 in the history of your city. How can you forget the massacre of innocent people and the terrorism that was shown by MQM on that day? How can you commit such a crime???? I am amazed!!!! I am indeed..!!!!!!!!

  29. Reality_Check (unregistered) on December 23rd, 2007 @ 10:08 pm

MK May 12 was nothing compared to what this city and province has seen. On May 12 there was still a fight, and ANP / PPP goons were also there all dressed up for the occasion. But this city has seen Massacres in cold blood of hundreds of people, when no one came to help and no one wants to remember the dates or the persons who died. Instead after every massacre like the one on September 30 1988 in Hyderabad, those affected were punished by curfews and elders were humiliated in front of young boys and young boys were tortured to death in lock ups. I didnt want to say this but no National Strikes were observed then, no National Leader came to rescue. So please dont lecture us, we might have forgiven but our memories are not that short.

  30. d0ct0r (unregistered) on December 24th, 2007 @ 3:32 am

yea MK don’t compare or talk about 12may.. just keep your eyes closed and just ignore Altaf bai and MQM’s terrorism.. Altaf bai’s MQM was just busy doing harmless shooting practice on 12th may.. they never intended to kill those 50+ people ,as we’re all aware the kind saints they are from party’s top leadership down to unit and sector incharges.. How dare you blame them of 12th may massacre!

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=TMr–dlHQps

  31. d0ct0r (unregistered) on December 24th, 2007 @ 3:55 am

its ironic that someone has the audacity to compare massacres or justify some thing like 12th may… karachiites saw MQM’s real face on that day.. most people were already aware of MQM’s brutal crimes ,but on 12th may they saw those gory pictures beamed live on tv as well
