Your chance to help make elections free and fair!

A few people are organizing a venture to get involved in monitoring/exposing rigging in the upcoming elections on 8th, January, 2008. The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan is taking volunteers in to monitor, scrutineer the voting and partake in vote counting.

This is the time, where we can do our part towards free and fair elections, and to actually expose rigging as much as we can.

These are the two ways you can get involved….

1. Take part in Election Day with an Election Comission Card: Become a volunteer and get registered with the Election Commission. Once we are registered, we can walk into any polling booth. and even hopefully oversee/scrutinize the counting. This can actually be quite exciting because we are inshallah going to try to hit close races, where the actual rigging is done during counting.

TO GET REGISTERED, we just need to get them your NIC copy and two passport sized pictures.

2. Take part as a volunteer: You can show up on election day and help out and observe the polls and interview people after they have voted.

This can be a first small step towards us trying to work towards a much fairer election and at least find out and report how the big wig political parties rig elections…

For more information and to volunteer contact Moneeza or Faris at muharik@gmail.com

    Nice post.

If things can be done as planned in this country why do we need volunteers at the first place.

It is an important but a risky task.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks that it’s extremely odd that they would allow anyone to become a volunteer and “walk into any polling booth.”

Sounds like a scam to me.

Why don’t the skeptics send Moneeza and Faris an email for more information? Then after speaking with them they can rest assured that this is legit and is an amazing once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Thanks Neoka for making others aware of this. I have already got in touch with Moneeza and Faris and will be volunteering. I can’t wait!! :)

No Elections this time around. Benazir is dead, according to Ms. Bhutto’s spokesman. And, unfortunately, as it always happens Karachi wallas will suffer most, so will the entire province of Sindh.

Maybe, now Musharraf is glad. Finally.
