@Jamal Shamsi....> Actually the price of NANO caught my attention and for this reason it will be an excellant choice for an average Pakistani person too. What exactly will be the taxes if there is a chance of buying this from across border?.

as per Dr. Wajid- Collector Customs at Customs house , Karachi - this morning at 10.30AM - Hybrid car is dual fuel car electric & petrol engine, therefore import duty is applicable on the CC capacity of the petrol engine.

Barrister - your turn now, or else you sure is Jhoota as Wakeels are.

It's amazing to hear about the issue of importing hybrids into Pakistan. Is there any way of finding out if they are custom free? In the states the government gives tax breaks to people who purchase hybrids, however, they do not necessarily account for the difference. In essence, the economics behind purchasing a hybrid car in the US make it so that one might not end up saving any money, merely breaking even and being environmentally responsible. TheIssue.com recently did a daily feature on the "Economics of Buying a Hybrid", which consists of bloggers from around the internet commenting on the day's most important issue. Check it out.

<a href="http://theissue.com" rel="nofollow">http://theissue.com</a>

Cheers,

Mike
