Good morning Karachi

I came across this interesting picture on flickr. Although the photographer has manipulated the image to get the message across, an altered photo would have been equally powerful.

You rarely saw such things in Karachi when I was growing up. But then whole of Paksitan figured out that it is free to travel to Karachi in a third class rail car. Hence, there are more pathans in Karachi than in NWP and Afghanistan combined, and more saraikees in Karachi than in whole of Panjab. Balma PBUH suggests put all these people on north bound tezgam, no ticket required in 3rd class, and enforce tickets on south bound trains.

    Hazrat BALMA (PBUH),

When is the right time to run upto the top hill and announce prophethood?

but u r right, pathans and panjabis immigrants. There should be some VISA required for ppl to travel to KHI. Like ppl in Hong Kong have for chinese ppl from mainland, even though Hong Kong is part of China now.

Or else, we should think about making Karachistan.

    Sahaabiah Alam Ara,
I am no prophet. I just think everyone should wish me peace :-)

I don’t think visa system is necessary. All that is needed is enforcement of ticket purchase requirement on trains to/from Karachi.

If paan-chewing Urdu-speakers can be allowed to travel on free trains to Karachi from the back allies of Delhi, Lucknow, Muradabad, whole of Bihar, why should Punjabis or Pathans be stopped from residing in this city. Proximity allows more righst to Pathans and Punjabis on Karachi than somebody coming from across the Jamuna. If Urdu-Speakers don’t like pan-peek infested streets of karachi, they are free to return to the lands where their ancestors toiled their lives to serve village thakurs in “every possible way”. Oh, while you are at it, don’t forget to take along your pajama, which you are in habit of forgetting everywhere. A Pakistan minus the pollution of Urdu-speakers would certainly a better place.

I actually agree with u. There was no sense for Indians to come to Pak and settle. But that duffer Jinnah went to Bihar and UP, and actually incited the poor uneducatd Muslims for supporting Pakistan. Now, what would happen if Altfa bhai goes to Panjab and recruit urdu speaking Mohajirs there for MQM and braking Pakistan? Come on, thats like inviting holocaust.

So whats done is done. Its like all Americans want sto stop Mexican immigration, but almost everyone is immigrant himself. At some point u have to draw a line. ENOUGH !

Rural to urban relocation is a huge problem in many parts of the world. The finger can safely be pointed at the governments in each case.

Lack of opportunity, lack of jobs, lack of investment, lack of infrastructure, lack of basic necessities are some of the problems that causes these poor people to migrate from their villages to big cities.

To reverse this trend, businesses and governments must plan to provide equal opportunity to all by investing and spending in these impoverished and neglected backyards.

No amount of bitching is going to have the desired effect.
