With all due to respect, the picture in above URL is very sick and extreme version of mourning which is definitely NOT in Islam. I am sure that even sensible Shia fellows would reject such kind of violence on younger kids but I wonder why no "Anti-Mullah" champion have guts to raise voice against it? Irony?

"Would Hussain (May Allah be pleased with him) approve the way people act on Ashura?" is not the subject of the post. You are being prejudicial by using the post on Ashura in off topic way to criticise certain sections of society. Who made you in charge over what others do anyway?

@self- Although I do not usually reply to comments about my post, but I will clarify anyway. I was only commenting in the context of this post. This post was about the two days and indeed word "Ashora" was not mentioned, but it did have a direct reference (mourners, martyrs). Mind telling me what am I prejudiced against?

Here is my question to anyone. I do not mean to offend anyone nor I am questioning a sect.

Would Hussain (May Allah be pleased with him) approve the way people act on Ashura?

Would Hussain (May Allah be pleased with him) do anything in his life that would hurt the religion of Rasool Allah (May peace be uppn him) ?

May Allah have his mercy on us Muslims.

I pray that they keep this many police/security officers on daily basis.
Security should be the top priority of the local administration.

From an Ashura video shot in Tehran last year it appears to me that Muharram is observed as a much lighter event in Iran, the bastion of Shia-ism, than in Pakistan.

Unlike in Pakistan, where Muharram is associated with extreme mourning and frenzied self-flagellation, it appears that Ahura processions in Tehran are more organized, coordinated and synchronized like a street parade on music beat, and are more like social events than religious ones. Of course, there is much less blood-letting. People go about their daily business in streets while the procession proceeds in the middle.

Pakistanis in abroad (majority) live in a ghetto community. They dont try to assimilate and socialize outside their community and look weired wearing shalwar kameez in public. They only believe whatever their Uncle, daddy or mullahs in the community tell them and dont find the truth themselves.

Sorry for the irrellevance, I had to clear that out.

Yes, it was a sad day in the history of Islam.
Makes you humble, thinking of all the sacrifices.
