Berger Factory Burns at Site

The Berger Factory caught fire earlier this evening, and had been burning for at least a few hours, before the fire brigade reported through the news media, that it was stated that the fire would not come under control for atleast 48 hours.

Berger, the paint making factory, was full of tremendous chemicals required to make the end product, so though it is being deemed a normal industrial accident.

My concern being this – isn’t Site Industrial Association aware that they ARE an industrial area, where massive industrial accidents WILL take place.. What kinds of preventive measures or precautionary measures are taken to help minimize the damage?

I know for a fact that the site association is filled with a bunch of corrupt officials, all they care about is getting their cut for what the industrialists are doing int heir private quarters.

that is an extreme statement, but sadly true

Yes you are right Rukun. Berger is a MNC and ISO certified and they should definately have their own security plans. God knows what actually happened. May God bless every one of us and keep us safe.

I do not understand since last several days why almost everyday we are getting fire either in Karachi or in Lahore. Wondering if these are just accidents or ????

Rukun: You mean SITE Ltd. SITE Assoc. is the association of factories operating in SITE, much like a student organisation at a university. SITE Ltd. is the government branch that controls all affairs related to SITE area.

Also, S.I.T.E. stands for Sindh Industrial and Trading Estate.

Well fire news is now being heard very often. Something should be done for fire alarms to be in place. New buildings should be built with the fire code with fire exits as well. But for now the minimum we should all do is work in a way that fire alarms are placed in all office buildings so at least the evacuation process can start in time and save lives. Recently in our office building (business avenue ) the fire started and people at the second floor were trapped and had to risk coming through the smoke with wet clothes just because the fire alarms were not there. This was a very very small fire. Allah forbid if this would have been a big fire numerous casualties would have been inevitable and the same could be saved if fire alarms warnings are in place.

I agree with Mr. Ammar about the MNC but true is that there was not enough fire fighting and security plane. Everything was dummy only for showing others. few year before there was one robbery case happend and robber takes more then 1.4 million rupees. Its shows that ther own security was fail on that time. Also i feel that this happend due to managment failer becasue they fail to provide good fire fighting plans.

site association is also run by political party activists, im not sure abt it though. i know abt the two , and i can tell you ive seen money going down both the drains.

i think they are there to keep checks and balances to each other, all that happens is referrals and 2 gifts instead of one

These fire most probably due to the low voltage and sub standard wire usage in the plant area and not sufficient FIRE SPRINKLER system.
Is every one now buys the Property Insurance in Pakistan? If yes could be Criminal MInd behind all these FIRE.

they’re talking about setting up a separate police force for industrial area, they should also have a separate firefighting department equipped with specialized equipment to deal with industrial fires

    @ rabia garib
You say: it is being deemed a normal industrial accident.
I say: If it is ‘normal’ then your ‘concern ‘ may be abnormal. May as well call it an act of God and forget about it which we are going to do anyway.

    @ Rukun
You say: the site association is filled with a bunch of corrupt officials.
I say: Name an institution which is not.

    @ Ammar
You say: May God bless every one of us and keep us safe.
I say: any good reason why should HE.

    @ cynicalrealist
You say: SITE Assoc. is the association of factories—much like a student organisation at a university. SITE Ltd. is the government branch
I say: No wonder between them they make an explosive mixture.

    @ d0ct0r
You say:Mr Berger’s soul must be on fire hearing this.. 2nd Berger factory gutted in less then a year …
I say: If Mr Berger can ‘hear’ then surely he could have taken better precautionary measures after the first fire.

    @ IUnknown
You say: ALLAH reham karey apna.
I say: Punishment will work better.

    @ alam
You say: did u say this before the fire?
I say: Would it have mattered?

    @ CE QUADRA
You say: true is that there was not enough fire fighting and security plane.
I say: We are never short of plans. It is their
    execution that we lack.

    @ IUnknown
You say: religion is the personal matter.
    I say: Not in Pakistan!

    @ pkhan
You say: could be Criminal MInd behind all these FIRE.
I say: Criminal negligence is more like the reason.

    @ Alam
You say: yeah, thats the point. Don’t say allah, deo mata , christ, etc in public. Its not acceptable in civilized society
I say: No, that was not the point. Can you name one such civilized society anyway.

You say: neither is an Atheist talking crap acceptable in a civilized society ..
I say: No one talking crap, be it an athiest, agnostic or religious is acceptable in a civlized society. However, athiests or agnostics are very much at liberty to have their say in a civilized society. Would you like me to name a few such persons for your info. including some noble prize winners.

@kabir are you 2nd incarnation of alam?

    alam 2.0?

    @ @kabir

You say: are you 2nd incarnation of alam?
    alam 2.0?

I say: Who is alam. Enlighten me O the wise one. However, I may be 7th or 8th incarnation of the great mystic poet and seer of India, Kabir Das, who lived from circa 1440 to 1518. He is famous for his couplets aka DOHAs. I felt I may be his reincarnation after I read his DOHAs lamenting the general state of this world because I feel the same way as he did. If you want to know more about Kabir Das take the help of google.
