SQ, i completely agree. can’t say i like mqm, but the type of construction and improvement going on in all of karachi right now is b/c of mqm. there’s been more improvements in the last 7 years than there has been in the last 50. kmb guys/gals keep bringing up the ’90’s…people in pakistan usually have short memories (no one is even talking of BB anymore)…so y do we keep remembering the 90’s?!

Yes I agree that MQM has done a whole lot for the city and credit should be given where credit is due. But metrobloggers like Alam are missing the entire point. These two brave police officers gave their lives for the country. God bless them, and may God grant them peace and may our condolences ease the pain their families are going through right now. God bless Pakistan

Good to see that these mad folks are finally bracketed as terrorists and not as heroes. Sadly, two more cops have sacrificed their lives, but the question remains, will this nation dish out some recognition?

As for Alam I see him employing a clever sutle approach to bring in MQM in every topic, sounding more and more like a war monger, crying wolf. Are you ok buddy? perhaps a call to arms is easy for those who dont have to lift even a butter knife. But he is right on one count i.e. the terrorrist /Jamaatee nexus. However, there is a difference, previously these terrorists were using accomodations and safe houses provided by Jamatee sympathisers in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Defence, but now they can only find refuge beyond landhi. Also, there is no need for MQM to pick a fight to dessimate Jamaat. Qazi is doing a good job at that, leading his party to nothingness. He has even sidelined his trump in Karachi i.e. Naimatullah, his crime: shaking hands with Dr. Farooq Sattar after last Municiple elections.

    @Reality_Check

Actually, I like MQM. I think it is a good thug party. Its our last defence line against mullahs and upcountry pissed off immigrants (remember Dec 27?).

I want Altaf Bhai to remember why he was chosen by KHI. It was not his women-like voice, or his Liaqat Ali Khan ka mukka. Its his ghunda gardi.

I am just being very honest here. And I love Altaf Bhai. He is psycho, but it is good for gunda gardi. I want Altaf bhai to come back inhis form. Lets push aside divorce woes, and get into the business

MQM has nothing to do with this story so can we please stop commenting about that.

A group of hardened terrorists managed to accumulate a cache of weapons and live unnoticed within a non-descript house in a populated neighbourhood of the city. This should be of major concern to us.

That they were living with women and children is disturbing and the entire setting seems similar to a cult.

I am not in Pakistan so cant do this stuff myself but if any of you could get me hook with some one then I would really appreciate it.I am willing to spend lots of money for that. And I mean a good money.

One of my friend’s sister is trapped by some psycho guy. He has got few of her pics in his cell phone and in his desktop machine. The gal is 20 I guess and sort of stupid for her age. The pics are not too bad, they are just holding hands etc but being Pathans those pics would be unbearable for her family.

I want some one to snatch his cell phone and pick his desktop from home all peacefully, can you find some resources for me or hook me with any one to get this done in next week. Easy job but good money.

I can call you if you want me to talk about it. This is a serious issue , please help me and contact me at greatman787 [at] yahoo dot com.

I am sorry to inform all of you that Doctor was one of the terrorist who was killed in the Shah Latif Town gun battle between police and terrorits. He was identified by his neighbour. It was further revealed during the autopsy that he was KHUSRA. Police were, however, very happy and were singing the song which his family used to sing for him " AIK DIN MAR JAI GA TO KHUTTAY KI MAUT, GHAR WALE BOLAIN GAY MAR GIA "

Salute to those who gave their lives for us and for this country. Imagine, how many innocent people could have died had these terrorist were not killed/arrested. My prayers are with the departed souls and sympathies with the bereaved families. The Shaheed police men deserve Sitara-e-Jurrat. Rather than commenting on the issue and appreciating the efforts by police men, people are just posting their political comments. This is not fair and should not be allowed by KMB Admin.

Take it with a grain of salt.

Honestly, being a bit familiar with Pakistani Police, I would take this news with a grain of salt.

Usually our police claims a criminal caught if someone is unable to comeup with $$$$. (It may come from any side) and there have been fake encounters before too. Who knows if this was one of them too.

The only people police would catch is the ones with No Connections and unable to comeup with Cash or Opposition Party.

It could have been MQM Haqiqi men termed as terrorists and killed. Who knows??? Hasn’t it happened in the past, where MQM man (operation cleanup) were killed in cold blood and termed as being killed in encounter.

I don’t know the history of the police officers who got killed. This would be my basis to consider them hero or not.

Literally, the media is not the bible and our police are not saints.

MQM may have been able to do a few things because Mush was willing to pay well for safeguarding his kursi.

Well, the kursi is about to be pulled out from underneath him, and his lotas are not likely to be the govt after Feb. 18.

Messrs. Reality_Check and Jamal Shamsi had assured me sometime back that everything was under control and all contingencies were taken care of. The time is coming soon for making good on those assurances.

Don’t expect any generous handouts from the new PPP/PMLN thugs. It is going to be back to the "sauteli maaN" treatment for Karachiites. The shine is going to come off bhatta khors once the money dries up.

A point to ponder… Mush’s and Crop Commander’s cases get cracked and terrorists get nailed as well and poor policemen also loose their lives and the ever efficient police department claims the headmoney ,but what about those 20+ murder cases in which our Governor Sahib is involved? .. or a trip to Governor house cleanses every one of their past sins and crimes?

Love you Alam! an excellent retort, my friends wouldnt have enjoyed it, but I did.

The key is, dont do what your opponents want you to do, right now as I write these lines and I know many here will frown, but the fact is presently, MQM is the only party in Pakistan that is deliverring to its people, that is giving opportunities to new leadership to come up, that is organized, close to the masses and progressive albeit regimented. I agree with you that they are street politicians and will never be the darling of Shurafaa-e-UP or Punjab.

At the same time look at the other parties, they are no where and are visibly in disarray, no agenda to serve the people, overloaded with hoards of opportunists. It looks like that it will be another election of the Zameendar’s.

The question, who will confront whom or seeks whose support? that will be answered after Feb 18. That said, remember, Pakistan is a soup opera second to none, with a twisted plot and sudden turns in story line, so anything can happen.

  23. alam (unregistered) on January 31st, 2008 @ 11:51 am

    >> MQM is the only party in Pakistan that is deliverring to its people

lets say, MQM is a lesser evil. We need a ghunda in mohalla, where police/law enforcement are useless.

MQM is not a visionary party. Its not a party of ideals. If it were mid 90s clash with Pak Army would never had occured (ok, i hate pak army, and at that time, my sympathasies with MQM 200%). Now, Altaf bhai is kissing up the Pak Army, when virtually everyone hates it, even Panjab!

What more KHI needs? Probably mayor KHI type educated and humble ppl with vision. Altaf bhai has become bhoora, he is not even a good ghunda now. Better ppl can take control of MQM. They should make 3 wings: One intellectual and visionary ppl who r planning for the next 10 years in KHI, second management ppl (like running KHI day to day), and the third pure ghunda ppl who r defending KHI day and night. Every sector shoud have that dada bhai ppl.

Needless to say I am disappointed in Altaf and MQM after what happened on Dec 27. This is a precedent that can be repeated.

  24. AMMAR (unregistered) on January 31st, 2008 @ 3:29 pm

Alam, there are thousands of Mayor type people in MQM. What he is doing in the vision of MQM. If he will not be there there will be someone to accomplish the vision of MQM. There is no MQM without Altaf Hussain. You are speaking like others who have vested interests that MQM is acceptable with Altaf Hussain. What happened after 27th was a great conspiracy to burnt the whole sindh down with was made unsuccessful by the prudent and wise decision to be patient by MQM. Imagine what could have happened if MQM had retaliated, just ashes every where.

Doctor, dont you think that the research you do to malign MQM and which is baseless takes more enegry and time than to open eyes or put aside the glasses of bias. Merely one trip to the city will speak the truth. Come on dear, how long you can put your head under the sand. Feel the reality..

  33. SirJee (unregistered) on January 31st, 2008 @ 7:40 pm

    Doctor,

I agree with you. I think this problem is rampant with people all over Pakistan. When we choose someone as our leader, we close our eyes to their sins and would defend them even if it takes us to be atheists.

ALAM is a retard. He is happy to see MQM fighting with Jamateez or Haree Pagreez. He sounds like a feminist whose mother regrets his birth.

Doctor, May Allah protect you from the evils, Ameen. I know how dangerous it is to write against evil. I recommend you to really practice the meanings of your name.
