Election Watch : NA-241 / Karachi – III

http://karachi.metblogs.com/archives/images/2008/02/na-241-thumb.jpgContinuing the Election Watch Series NA-239 & NA-240, we now have a look at NA-241 Karachi-III.

Election watch on KMB is a short series of posts where look at various National Assembly seats in Karachi, we will simply short list the most prominent candidates contesting for elections and also take a quick glance at what transpired from the the 2002 elections to see the trends. Naturally we would like to see the metroblog readership also to cast your own vote, If you were going out to vote for one of these candidates who would you vote for?.

Take the poll

Free Poll by Blog Flux2008 Elections: Total number of Registered Voters 268,582 (168,825 Male & 99,757 Female). The three candidates up for elections are:

  1. Iqbal Qadri Adv (MQM)
  2. Dr. M. Shakir Alam (PPP)
  3. Wazir Khan Afirdi (PML-N)

2002 Elections: In the 2002 elections there were 201,562 Registered Voters in NA-241 of which 37% polled that day (74,558). The candidates were

  1. Muhammad Laeeq Khan (MMA) – 26812
  2. Feroze Uddin Rehmani (MQM) – 26333
  3. Muhammad Afaque Shahid (PPPP) – 6264
  4. Naeem Gul Advocate (ANP) – 5953
  5. Wazirzada Afridi (PML-N) – 2470

Prediction: Looking at the very close margin of victory by MMA in the 2002 elections, barely 500 votes, its without doubt that MQM will most likely take the cake in NA-241 as it only faces opposition from PPP and PML-N while Jamaat Islami is boycotting the elections. Hence predicted winner should be Iqbal Qadri of MQM

In all honesty I need help in identifying the popular locations within these electoral seats, and would appreciate any assistance from our readers so that these seat locations are better understood then some confusing roman numerical

I think that MQM will win this seat. It was only in the previous election that MQM lost this seat. Keeping in view the thin margin of victory by MMA, it seems most likely that MQM will regain this seat.

MQM will have the advantage of development work being done in the city by the city government which is largely dominated by MQM.

Blast in Charsadda kills 27 workers of ANP but ANP didn’t torched a single vehicle in Peshawar and Charsadda compare to previous day when an ANP leader were killed and they restore to firing arson looting and burning the vehicles of Urdu Speaking people.

Another eye opener to Urdu speaking people that these Pathans are trying to loot and torched everything urdu speaking people have and try to disturb the peace of karachi.

And you are not only blind from your eyes but from your mind as well.
You are singing the song of 12 May but we have a long list of massacres worst then 12 May.
We do remember Qasba Aligerh, Golden Town , Hyderabad, Pacca Qilla Massacres.
And What about 27 Dec 08?
    Yes !!
We will vote for Altaf Hussain and MQM again as we knows who are the real terrorists.

Ali And 27 Dec is your justification for 12 may07? did 27 dec washed off sins of Altaf Bai and MQM ? was Altaf bai not equally responsible for 27dec when minutes after benazir’s assassination Altaf goes on live tv and in his demonic voice while shedding crocodile’s tears tries to incite ethnic violence
and what about all those mqm thugs who were having a field day on 27th and expecting that ppp will get blamed for everything….?
