KHANABADOSH that's the point of having elections / democracy, sooner or later these parties will learn to live and accept each other, adversarial governments doesn't mean that the country be brought to a standstill, otherwise argument for autocracy and dictatorship will be a winner. For me as long as the parties are not hell bent upon enforcing some screwed up ideals they will find a way to co-exist. Look at the confrontations of the past neither PPP, MQM nor PML drew any benefit from that. If they still don't get it then you can say goodbye to democracy for another ten years.

DOCTOR your line of reasoning and brandishing will lead to another endless discussion. Mush was not a FAN of MQM before/after 2002 elections, infact he was all for Imran Khan and he also supported JI Naimatullah. When the screwed up ideologs went after him (assassination attempts) plus went on a bombing spree in Karachi, it was only then it was realized that a major clean-up of this Al-qaeda heaven was required and MQM was a natural ally and the job was done and certain big fish were caught. The upside of it was that this time around MQM fielded new faces as Ministers, who were very effective and impressed everybody and after Mustafa Kamal and his team of Nazims the whole perspective changed. Also a major event was the earthquake, where MQM folks were one of the first responders in Muzaffarabd a lot of bridges were built then too.

To sum up our country is not a country of Saints and pious monks anymore, Mush or any other has to deal with what is at hand. As I have said earlier as long those in power or contending for it are not driven by hate, racist rants or some screwed up ideology and learn to develop a working relationship with each other, we will be ok, otherwise say goodbye.

As for percentages wait a few more days and after elections we will re-visit them. As per your logic last elections MMA vote will not go to MQM plus their vote bank will further shrink. So lets see how the turnout goes, how many boycott, how many show up and how many change their preference.

Reality...
"done a good job and protected....." i have already been talk off n on about the imported convicted governor's "hard work" so won't touch that issue atm...

let me repeat what i have said earlier, do you see any other political party's governor? Q League's? ANP's? MMA's? Nleague's? or even PPP's(which was the largest vote getter from all over pakistan and sindh, neither did it got its PM,govenor nor CM), Mush did a BIG favour to MQM by installing its imported convicted governor, Musharraf's relation with MQM is no hidden secret,we all have seen when on 12 may 2007 he made those famous remarks " you've seen our power on streets of Karachi " while his mates from MQM butchered 50+ innocent karachiites ... although Mush often gets embarrassed at being associated with MQM and denies that he is mureed(devotee) of Pir of London Town, but the fact remains that he is one,..Mush was fascinated by Ghunda(gangster) type characters ever since his childhood days, in his own words he was himself a dreaded Nazimabadi Ghunda(*Dadageer*),so its no surprise that he has a soft corner for this mafia type terrorist organisation

as for the "heavy mandate" by mqm, 15.6 % of votes from eligible karachiite voters makes it heavy ?

@Reality_Check:

What happens when MQM sweeps Karachi but both the provincial as well as federal govts are adversarial?

Curtailed funding means curtailed projects, no? Or do they have some other magic up their sleeve?

SHAHID ALAM,

I agree with you. Mush did give MQM a second life.

Now instead of
'hamain manzil nahee rahumaa chahiey'

they are saying
'hamain rahnumaa nahee roads aur bridges chahien'

I think its a good thing, there always should be competition. If there were no jamateez, like Naimatullah, there wouldn't have been any competition.

I think all the old leaders should now rest in peace.

Mustafa kamal is good, he should takeover MQM leadership.

and similarly QAZI and others at JI should leave their leadership and let the younger ones take the leadership.

I don't know if I can say the same thing about PPP. Other than Aitzaz ahsan, I don't see any hope from that side, same goes for PMLz.

People against MQM are now saying MQM is contesting with out opposition then i ask then who ask MQM opponents not to contest?
The truth is what MQM and City Gov has done they are running and facing their faces from sure defeat.
MQM will be more stronger then 1988 this time and time will tell all of you .

So DOCTOR it is a bad thing that the Governor is from a political party? Should he be a military man? No matter how you malign he has done a good job and protected the interests of the province and the city. If the MQM guys are as bad as you say and the rest are pure angels? then how come they will get a heavy mandate?
What!, because Mush is supporting them. What can Mush do on the streets? By the way, Mush also gave 22 billion rupees to Naimatullah despite MQM's opposition, so he gave the city its due whether it be JI or MQM, Its up to the political parties to participate and win elections. Nobody could force the people to vote on gun point, not even a Wadera in a remote village, now even he has to deliver on his promises. People are not so dumb as you take them to be.
