It was during Zia time when Islam was being shoved into us through all our openings that Mullas were encouraged to make full use of loud speakers not only for Azan but also for their sermons and Nat and Hamd Khwanis. Mulla never had it so good and took upon himself to mold us into his image. When providence rid us of Zia the Mulla continued with its use of loudspeakers. It was only recently that Musharraf found the courage to ban the use of loudspeakers by Mulla for anything else but the Azan.
This law like many other such laws is not being fully implemented for fear of retaliation by Mulla who by now has also equipped himself with FM radios and Klashnikoffs to implement what they preached. Do this or get done in by us was their new policy.
It is about time the government implemented this law and established its writ. It is also about time we spoke our mind about what we really think of Mulla’s writ in our lives and our rights. It is no blasphemy to say use of loudspeakers is a nuisance. If it is then be it so. There then must be something wrong with the blasphemy law.
It may be noted use of loudspeakers stands completely baned in mosques in Egypt.

Most Mullas declared loud speakers illegal when the technology first arrived in the Sub-continent. Today, you can’t keep them away from it.
I have proposed many times that the use of loud speakers should be banned in Masjids. I will add that they should be banned, period. Masjids, weddings, whatever…

It may seem like graph coloring problem but most points in Karachi can be covered by speakers from at least five masjids.
It is annoying when at least 5 muezzins start their azaans at 5 different times and they all mix together….kahee’n say allahu akbar aa rahaa hae, kaheen sae hayaa al-falah, then next is out of order hayaa asalah, then some thing else out of order…..shows how screwed up Muslims are.

You are complaing about stupid ways of celebration. Think of me. I have been complaining of stupid ways of praying —- over the very powerful speakers —- 5 times a day, 7 days a week and so on and so forth —- simultaneously from many directions —- as if in competition to please Allah.
Long time back while looking for a house I was shown many by the agent. At the end of the day he recommended one in close proximity of a mosque for convenience of praying. I decided in favour of one in close proximity of a grave yard for convenience of tranquility.
The matter become worse if you happen to have a house between two mosques one belonging to Depbandis and the other to Brailvis. I once visited a friend on Friday living in such a house. Mulla of each mosque was cursing the Mulla of the other mosque each using additional more powerful loudspeakers than is the general practice. I asked this friend of mine why was he living in this house. He smiled and said:" The rental is as good as free thanks to these Mullas. I tide over the situation by using these ear plugs normally used by swimmers." He pulled out another pair of plugs which he kept for guests. I said: "No, thanks. I will visit you again but," added while leaving ‘never on friday’.
Is there then any thing wrong with my small prayer which I say 5 times a day — 7 days a week —: ‘Oh, God ! save me from the prayers of your followers’.

When you have people like MB and this guy farrukh ahmed calling themselves authors then what else would you expect? I am glad that MB has taken action some thugs who call themselves authors here. Instead of reflecting what’s happening in the city, KMB became a political propaganda machine and cause of spreading hatred. Comments are so nasty and loud that no decent conversation is possible. These guys dont anything else to write except for Anti/Pro-Musharraf, Anti/Pro-MQM and fight and abuse each other.

I totally agree with MB admin’s action. Fire all authors and bring new people on board. Ban political, cheap and controversial stuff aimed to get attention only.
