Terror sets in

Karachi was once known as the ‘city of lights’. All that changed not due to the load-shedding power failures, but due to violence and terror the city saw in the 90s. While the citizens of this city that ‘never sleeps’ are continuously in search of any outlet they can find, our city has long been the target of pointless violence countless times. If anything was left, all went down in the unforgettable incidents of May 12th and 27th December last year.

These incidents have left such a deep scar amongst us that even a small rumor now triggers a chain reaction of panic and uncertainty in the city. Today was another one of those days!

As my fellow authors have already pointed out the incidents, and while we hope everyone is safe, its high time that our city is taken for granted; and to top it all, we have so-called political leaders playing the centuries old blame game, talking on their party leader’s behalf, trying to copy the tones, dialogues and even accents of leaders that don’t even have the guts to face the music, and who live lavish lives abroad on the cost of innocent people and make a living from “bhattas”

We don’t deserve democracy……………we need another Martial Law!

You just gave me a heart attack – Another Martial Law !! what good did the first two do – we saw May 12th under Musharraf’s First Martial Law. Then when he did a second martial law unto himself and we saw the three days of carnage on Dec 27th. Now under a so called Democracy [NRO-Influenced democracy] we see another such incident.

We may have had some semblance of elections – but the only thing that changed was the Q league sent packing home, and BB assassinated – rest is all the same – its the same old crooks sharpening their knives planning to cut the cake all over again. Where is the much promised democratic change? I don’t see any of it… It hurts me to see this happening to our Pakistan.

Why do I get the feeling this govt. won’t be allowed to last more than a year at most? Same old same old!

    You must be joking right??

I need to have a philosophical discussion with you on this

In a democratic setup, Martial Law is suppose to a disease not a medicine.

So since the medicine didnt work 100% you are suggesting the patient should be given more of disease, because the patient didnt take the medicine as prescribed or didnt follow the doctor’s instruction properly ??

Please enlightenment me with you logic of asking for a ML

And by the way, the politics of intolerance you are talking about, if i am not wrong, is it not what the MILITARY has taught and injected into our country and not any other person ??

Is is not the men in uniform who threw the constitution into dustbin?
Is is not the men in uniform who raped it , abused it amend it when required? The politicians had at least have to have 2/3 majority. The military did it by force.

Is is not the men in uniform who taught the whole nation that you can get everything doen by force, terror and fear?

Is is not the men in uniform who said law is a piece of shit by humiliating the CJP, by whatever they have been doing in last one year?

Is is not the men in uniform who are responsible for their idiotic religious adventures in Afghanistan and flooding our country with herion and kalashinkov?

Is is not the men in uniform who are responsible for our humiliation in 71? The adventure of Kargil etc.

Is not the awaam whose power helped ARMY win 65 else we could have another 71 or is it not awaam who are eating grass to get the country a nuclear status?

Is it not awaam who have always scarified always? And just because they are not democratic-enough by mind you think they be treated as animals ( for next 60 years like previous 60 years).

I am sorry to say but your post made me think about MUSH baba trying to show the whole world that we dont deserve democracy

Us **** ke **** ko koi batai ki jab 60 mai se kisi mulk mai 35 years ARMY ka dunda chalta raha ho or wo 80% country ke resoruces eat up kerta raha ho or awaam ko ghaas ghane ko milta raha hai toh what they expect in return?

The establishment wants to do exactly that, not allow democracy to flourish and then say, hey see we told you they dont deserve democracy.

If you send NEWTON to a jungle for 50 years then he will come out being a MONKEY or something, not a human.

Its all about environment & the establishment doesnt want the environment to be created thats they follow the policy of divide and rule. And right now that is exactly whats happening in KARACHI. They are dividing PPP and MQM so the old cirle is repeated again.

you need to see this whole video, come back and say if you still think the same that you said in post?

Ironically Bhatta Qomi Movement was at its best during 8 years Martial law. How do you say that we need martial law?

Pakistan splitted in two during a Martial law and yet you sing praises of Martial law.

Actually we need to get rid of enslave mentality like you who are always happy to live under the boot of others.

I am very disappointed in this terribly-biased, politically-tainted, and totally one-dimensional blogs posted by the moderators of the metroblogs. Please have the common sense and decency to present BOTH sides of the carnage and BOTH sides of who did what.
Its sad to watch Metroblog tilting towards a forum against ‘MQM’ and “Urdu Speaking Nation” now; it’s turned so bias that the moderators of this forum are acting like ‘khudas’.

Down with the bias and fascist authors of Metroblog Karachi – abusing there status….

    Some Points,

Sindhis who say "Urdu na khappey, Punjabi na Khapey, Pakistan na Khapey, Panahguzeer na Khapey" are patriotic, tolerant, and progressive?

Why is that the Punjab Infested Armed Forces of Pakistan has not ever taken action against the ‘son of soils’ aka Punjabis?

Islam could not unite the Muslim Bengalis East Pakistanis with the Muslim Punjabi/Sindhi/Baluchi/Pathan/Mohajir West Pakistanis and now it’s quite obvious that Islam is not uniting the various Muslim ethnicities in the rump Pakistan.

Judging from the venom oozing out of the Punjabis, Sindis of Metro on MQM, Pakistan has seen better days and it’s best days are behind us. :(

Dear Mohajir / MQM Haters in particular and Pisser-e-Zameen in general:

Having read all the anti-Mohajir, anti MQM, anti-Urdu, and anti-Pakistan venom expressed by so-called gentle Pakistanianites here has convinced me of this:

The next time there is any calamity north of Hyderabad, I will be tempted to invest my donation money in a case of Jack Daniels Whiskey or Carling – at least I will feel better about my money. :)

Down with the bias and fascist authors of Metroblog Karachi – abusing there status….

@Chishti: Before you declare me a punjabi or a non-urdu speaking, let me tell you that I am also against Punjabi fascism in Pakistan like other non-Punjabis are. I am also a typical Urdu speaking Mohajir. I am also against GM Syed’s sindhi fascism in the country. But when you just blame Sindhi and Punjabis, I would like to refresh your memory that it was fascist Altaf who chanted slogans about Jinnah Pur. It was Altaf who said Pakistan was a mistake and asked India’s help to give shelter. It was altaf who backed GM Syed’s Sindhu Desh movement.

so either correct your facts or just quit advocating about things which you don’t know at all.

  10. barristerakc on April 10th, 2008 @ 6:45 pm

Altaf Hussain has to courage to speak out the unpleasant Truths – and speak out his mind regardless of the conventional stereotype home-grown state sponsered wisdom.

As for you being a urdu-speaking man – you are Mir Jaffar – maybe a JI man and if ur a Pisser-e-Zameen , I wouldn’t care if you burn yourself today!!!!

  11. balma on April 10th, 2008 @ 7:03 pm

    * it was fascist Altaf who chanted slogans about Jinnah Pur.

Is it true? any record of this? It will be totally illogical of him to say this…because if he is breaking the country made by Jinnah, why would he call the new spin-off Jinnah Pur?
See ….this why I say inbreeding is a problem. It leads to stupids devoid of skills for logical analysis. Who ever started this shoshah about 15 years ago, probably was not educated, had never read Pakistan movement history, and lacked logical analysis skills – sounds like army or jamat-e-islami type thinking.

Balma Chudhary if you come out from your world then you would realize that real world is very different than your imaginary world.

  13. balma on April 10th, 2008 @ 8:40 pm

Was that an answer to my question? I asked for proof, and this is what I get?

Can anyone help me understand the situation here? Will people support my suggestion to ban cousin marriages now? See how inbreeding affects analytical skills!

  14. Adnan Siddiqi (adnansiddiqi) on April 11th, 2008 @ 1:13 am

Balma Chudhary, The answer was right up to the merit and that was a serious answer which you couldn’t comprehend. It’s not a hidden secret tht Altaf has been inclined towards INdia and talked about separate state. And it was quite funny that you speak about analytical skills(which I have experienced a lot on this forum). it’s just like we had a non matric pass minister as Minister of education in Sind in PPP era.

  15. balma on April 11th, 2008 @ 1:48 am

    Eddie o’Reily,
The question was if you can provide a reference to Altaf bhai using the name "Jinnah Pur"? Can you or can you not? Simple. And, please write proper Enlish next time. Otherwise, I am quite comfortable reading Urdu or Panjabi…try that.

Also, non matric ppp guy who was minister was before your time… so just shut up. What was the point here? nothing as usual?
Most educated Paksitanis have no analytical skills as well….too much inbreeding and discouragement to question any thing realted to religion or culture…blah blah blah…

Ineresting note: I have played football nangay paaoo’n with that non matric guy. He was much older than us kids, and he used to live in Lyari.
He was that side of Lyari, I was this side of Lyari.
Jamhooryat aayae gee tou yeh sub haraami pun bhee ho gaa!
On second thought, if matric failed ex generals can become VCs of universities….what is the big deal about a provincial education minister?
