Explosive findings unearth 450 billion scandal by outgoing MQM minister

Few days back speaking to general workers convention at 90, Altaf Hussain said MQM doesn’t take a second to kick workers out on corruption charges. Indeed it was a good show for the cameras but the harsh reality on the ground is quite contrary. Many of you have seen these clips on TV recently but such stories are just formalities. Since poor chaps like WK cannot go beyond or take on BIG GUNS but at his place its a drop in ocean. THE NEWS makes a stunning disclosure yesterday about the biggest scam in the real estate history of Pakistan and which should have been all over NEWS papers today but since the GUN rules in KHI, publishing this story itself was a big deal for THE NEWS. Rauf Klasra has done a stunning job indeed.

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has canceled with immediate effect 3,281 eligibility certificates issued by outgoing MQM housing minister Syed Safwanullah for government properties and accommodations in Karachi estimated to be worth Rs 450 billion.

Bulk of these properties was quietly sold in the private market by those who had received these illegal certificates. The prime minister who may face political pressure from his party’s new coalition partner in Sindh after this decision, has also ordered the immediate ejection of all those now illegally occupying these government properties and houses. The buyers of most of these government properties were given eligibility certificates by the housing minister during 2005-2008 but they sold them in the open market and disappeared. come on how do you trust the stories made by Rauf Kalasra and Ansar Abbassi. They have become a party and are biased about towards any non punjabi. Rauf Kalasra is a goof and he had the honour being the only one of getting failed for Army Recruitement from the 200 candidates. You can imagine how intelligent he is. regarding the allotment of the plots/houses, they were given to people who have been living there for decades and its the right to be given them the ownership. I dont see any element of corruption in that. Please dont quote stories and see the facts.

@shoaib, let’s assume, this story is not true, did u remember all Land record of Karachi was burnt in a fire on Board of revenue building, and it happened just before the establishment of new provincial government.

  4. HITMAN (hitman) on May 6th, 2008 @ 9:03 pm

Sorry MB. this has no effect now, Thanks to Fazlu, he came for the support of MQM & the said incident has been swept away beneath the carpet. Just read today’s newspapers

Honesty is independent of Intelligence. I have no concern to if RK is an illiterate or a PhD or intelligent or a naive person so long his argument has weight.

Just like a typical MQM fan who never brings out facts and only resorts to rant. You didnt mention why his story be not believed.

I regularly read RK and if he writes against MQM that doesnt mean he becomes a party. It can also mean he always brings out the UGLY side of MQM.

If you have any proof against the stated facts in his story bring it on. Rant for the sake of it is ignored. and you think the PRIME MINISTER is an idiot to risk his coalition in SINDH and entertain a false accusation without any proof? He must have seen something compelled him to take notice.

Also the sister concern of MQM i.e PMLQ has done such a remarkable job. and its just the beginning. Do check this link

Nice work shoaib bhai. I was wondering why we had fire in the land record office.

Your report makes a link between the fire and the allotment, may be the fire was intentionally started to remove all traces of these allotment.

  7. Adnan Siddiqi (adnansiddiqi) on May 6th, 2008 @ 11:18 pm

Shoaib, what are your "sources" of facts? i think those sources are like mqm.org?

  8. shoaib on May 6th, 2008 @ 11:41 pm

Hello friends, again some reference to the express new paper. Come on guys have some reliable sources instead of quoting these. Again the same blame game, just blame every thing on MQM if something happens in Karachi. My naivety doest allow me to find any link between the fire that broke out at the revenue department with MQM. Do it has any link at all with MQM. Was MQM looking after that department in the old government. Just a simple question. Just ask the 3436 familes who got the ownership of the houses where they were living for atleast 30 years and did they pay any thing to MQM or the minister, OFF COURSE NOT AND I CAN BET ON THAT. There can be negligence at the part of following the procedure but there is not element of corruption by MQM or the Minister.

I don’t know who this Kalasra idiot is, but army is not exactly looking for very intelligent people. So rejection by the army may mean that either he is a total idiot, or more intelligent than they can handle in the army.

  10. barristerakc on May 7th, 2008 @ 1:15 am

As a MQM voter, I am disappointed although I understand that NRO infested PPP would make bigger bucks out on the new allotments but two wrongs does not make one right.

‘3281 eligibility certificates issued by outgoing MQM housing minister Syed Safwanullah for government properties and accommodations ‘

well besides these they have encroached and occupied play ground/amenity plots and got them demarcated into small plots and survey number issued and allotted them to MQM’s supporters who have sold some of these in open market(fearing that these illegal allotments/enchroachments might be canceled ).

Construction is underway in full swing at Ashraf Masjid Block C and Block J Play Grounds, free construction material is available on sight besides they’ve been given Rs 1 million each for the build

  12. Adnan Siddiqi (adnansiddiqi) on May 7th, 2008 @ 11:20 am

Shoaib use your brain. Rauf just reported what GOVT found out by sending their investigation official. That was not a MADE UP story anyway. It seems MQM zealots consider their politician like Gods and saints and don’t expect that they could be involved in any corruption. Not surprising for me as I have dealt this MQM mentality for years.

  13. d0ct0r (d0ctor) on May 7th, 2008 @ 8:52 pm

besides that, construction is in full swing at Saima Bridge View(railway land encroached by MQM under nazimabad bridge) MQM(Ghauri) already got its full share in advance so the builder is also eager to complete the project while MQM is still in coalition(MQM have a habbit of crying, whining and yammering every fortnight in order to blackmail its coalition partner to
get a better deal) so before they create some mess and things heat up ,the builder wants to get this luxury apartment complex up and running

  14. Syed Johny (johny) on May 7th, 2008 @ 9:22 pm

"MQM(Ghauri) already got its full share in advance so the builder is also eager to complete the project "

Wow ! hmm Doctor must be the realstate Agent who arranged the deal ! other wise he would not have known such details :P

About the story ! this story was unearthed last month, while no one seemed to Quote that the people awarded the Onwership were living there for 30 Years!

When Former Nazim Naimatullah announced the regularization of the Katchi abadis , everybody supported it,(Including me),

but when the same thing is done by MQM minister later, he is criticized,
His fault?? I know , he should have held a press conference and have announced this to the media, right !![Sarcasm]

Although i am not saying that MQM ministers are angels , and are not corrupt !

But i do consider them comparatively less corrupt then the other party counterparts!

Has any one noticed that there wasnt one post abt Zardari’s cases being taken back within a month of being in power. No one really talked about it, maybe bec its more fun to bash MQM.

MQM hasnt even come close to half of what zardari and Nawaz do. Imran khan and the maulvis are too incompetent to vote for, so who does that leave you with?? Work with you have my friend.

I honestly dont really com to this page any more, all u ppl do is complain abt MQM. Grow up please. If MQM was the root of all evil they still wouldnt be the most popular party in the city.

Agree there was some dhandli in the last elcetion but tht happened everywhere, (even in larkana) search Youtube properly. MQM couldnt have won the entire city just by dhandli.

‘ghar hum jesai ghareeb loogon koi alltot kia tha tu kia yeh gunah hai MQM ka’

@madman looks like u were bought here recently through the bihar repatriation scheme. u have blinders on as do most mqm people. its written that most if not all land was re-sold in the private market so no question of poor people getting it.

and ok zardari is a universal crook but 450 billion, i dont think he got near that mark.

reason why mqm is berated is because u came here as mohajirs or to use a better word ‘guests’ until u prove yourself as being part of this land and integrate, so slowly over time that image disappears. but over the past 20 years u have killed people who let u in, looted property that u settled in (as this article shows), berated other minorities racially. i remember mqm proudly stating in the early 90’s that we’ll ethnically cleanse sindh. tried to break up this land (altafnagar). and mqm is the one most responsible for emphasizing the ‘muhajir’ label. our mistake for letting trash in. and u wanted to let more in . why hatred for bihar u ask. bihar is the most criminal, most backward, poorest state in all india. thats a fact. and highly emotional easily agitated people.

the memons, parsis, hindus and the more cultured civilized ‘muhajirs’ etc who lived in karachi for centuries were, and are responsible for its prosperity, that and its location. we were happy with them. article from wik:

In 1947, 25 per cent of the population of Sindh was Hindu Sindhi. They were responsible for the export of products made in Sindh and contributed significantly to the economy of Sindh. When the partition of British India occurred the Sindhi Hindus expected to remain in Sindh. Generally, there were good relation between Hindu Sindhis and Muslims Sindhis. When large waves of Mohajirs started to pour into Sindh, violence erupted on the streets. The Hindu Sindhis fled Sindh, leaving everything behind. Property belonging to the Hindus was appropriated by the Mohajirs.

harkaton sey kabhi baaz nahi aao gey. aik tu chori phir seena zori. 92 operation ki tarah jootey khatey raho gey.

now quit kissing your pirs feet and write me some comments.

  21. alik on May 8th, 2008 @ 11:46 pm

haha, so finally all your hatred came out. Wow…and there was a lot of it. Feeling better?

"u have killed people who let u in, looted property that u settled in (as this article shows), berated other minorities racially."
==> Err…so what about the pathans? isnt that what you guys blamed Dec27th riots on? It ofcourse wasnt any PPP supporter. They killed, pillaged, ..but I dont see you complaing about them.

Its the same bullshit each day, kinda funny how you cant let it go. Today, I went to the airport. Now, as we all know, private security guards are not allowed inside the airport. While im standing at departures, two pickup trucks are parked there, filled with Sindhis, well I assume theyre Sindhis since they wore Sindhi hats…and seemed to be speaking Sindhi…but ofcourse, they could be MQM workers…right D0CT0R ? But anyways, these guys, two pickup trucks filled with these guys, with ak47s…inside the airport..this is what PPP has brought us. Whether u hate, or love mqm,ppp,pml-x, etc, you gotta admit the gun culture has grown 10-folds since PPP came into power. Its getting ridiculous.

And what happened to reduction in the VIP culture? why dont MB, Adnan, and DOCTOR, quote the articles on that topic. In Dawn news, there was an article on how the ministers are still using high end bullet proof mercedes, and still have huge protocols. In Punjab, they seem to be reducing the number of cars available to the government…but definately not in Sindh.

Like the Barrister, I too am an MQM supporter. But im not blind. I know of the rights things they do, and I know of the wrong they do. I never defend the wrong. But I find all you supports of PPP etc, you can only see the one side, your side!

Funny how you had no issues with the NRO, with Zardari’s slate being wiped clean. Hypocrisy? You betcha! Oh..and whats this, your precious PPP seems like it doesnt want the judges anymore? oh big surprise!

  22. d0ct0r (d0ctor) on May 9th, 2008 @ 2:44 am

wow look who iz talking.. MQM is the MAJOR beneficiary of illegal NRO more then Zardari(whose financial corruption charges were dropped) whereas MQM on the other hand was facing far more serious and heinous criminal cases(stirring ethnic violence/murder/kidnapping for ransom/extortion/political assassination etc) and their partner in crime (dictator occupying president house) tried to wash of all their sins by dropping these casing against these criminals and terrorists.. zardari loots and plunders billions thats digestible to me as compared to these terrorist who have killed thousands of innocent karachiites getting off the hook so easily..

and now slowly n gradually as corruption of these terrorist become apparent its quite obvious that these MQM’s terrorists will put to shame even the likes of mega plunderer like Asif Zardari

  23. alik on May 9th, 2008 @ 1:28 pm

d0c0t0r, hmm, im trying to think of a away to explain it. Okay, think of it this way, karachi is some gangland. There are a coupla gangs, two big ones being ppp and mqm.

Now, i know that my interests will be severly hurt by a ppp power domination. Why?

    a) i dont like open display of arms, they do!
    b) i dont like the feudal mentality, they do!
    c) im not sindhi, they will hunt me down!
    d) already they came to my company, asking for "protection" money. BTW, they gave me business cards too! All that you said about mqm collecitng batha? how is this different? they asked me for a shit load of money, then gave me their business cards, so i have their names and positions within PPP, and they had ZERO fear!
    e) almost got my car rammed by this speeding landcruiser with the bhutto license plate. Do you think any cop will pull them over?
    f) Heard stories of Zardari already taking cuts on major deals. Rumours? very possibly, do I have proof? hell no, i’d be dead if i did. But the point is during Musharaff’s time, even on rumours, you used to go crazy.
    g) And btw, the simple policies of dealing with hoarders of rice, wheat, etc, why isnt the PPP really doing anything about it, i mean, beyond the lip service. I dont think they’re going to bring any real change. I think they will loot the country, like everyone else, and then leave.

Now i know you will compare everything to MQM, which is fine. But what im saying is, you feel safer with PPP cause they are protecting your interests, protecting you from the bad MQM.

I feel safer with MQM, because I feel they are protecting me from the bad PPP.

    Do you understand?

Im sure you are going ot resort to some sort of name calling very soon, which is your choice, frankly, what im saying is what a lot of people think. Its lesser of the two evils. No one thinks MQM is full of angels, we are just choosing survival.

Also, interesting how everything done under the mqm/mushraff government, you guys always claim it was started by the previous PPP government. But what about the much greater tax revnue the current government has to work with? all the infrastructure development in karachi, all the FDI, stream-lining of tax system, etc, so much good stuff was implemented, which obviously, all of us as well as the new government will benefit from. So enough of this whole…"well, it was actually started by so n so"
