Police Action in Lyari

Later today evening the police in Karachi did a massive crackdown on gangsters located within the densely populated area of Lyari which then erupted in a gun battle, reports came in that a few people have been killed and a number injured. Police in Karachi were embroiled in a deadly gunbattle with gangsters Wednesday in Lyari, a rundown town of the country’s biggest city. Police sent 100 officers and four armoured vehicles into Lyari on Wednesday in a bid to arrest underworld kingpins fighting a bloody turf war, Lyari police chief Imran Shaukat said. However, the officers met stiff resistance from gang members armed with automatic weapons and hand grenades. Shaukat said there were “a few casualties, some fatal.” He said at least one gangster was killed and police also suffered casualties. DAWN Latest News

    Well it was time that the law enforcement agencies did something against this. Operation is highly welcomed but Collateral Damage must be avoided!

    Area police station beat is 1 million a week from cabin & khokhas, kidnapping for ransom is a seperate issue, which is in 8 figures to begin with. drugs arms & target murder against a fee PLUS Arms on RENT grab grand money, which can not be counted.

    how would a sitting MPA will let his area "fumigated"???

    I was reading in Daily Times that the police is colluding with one gang to beat the hell outa another gang. Typical Pakistani police thing.
    One way to rid Karachi of crimes is to get rid of police. This institution promotes, collaborates, practices all kinds of criminal activities.

    I read yesterday on online Jang paper that operation has been suspended for some unknown reason. seems ’seskey’ guess is right

    Police has not even entered the area.. they are just staying out..

    police has taken sides with rehman’s gang to take out arshad pappu’s gang.
