Dolmen Mall in North Nazimabad!!

Finally a place for the teenagers of North Nazimabad to hang out at? Or just another window shopping chance for the area’s aunties. Decked with branded shops from top to bottom, I was forced to think if the shops were considering a revision in prices to cater to the customers in this part of the city. Not saying of course, that people here are any poorer but it is a general perception here that the ‘old money’ in North Nazimabad, is less ostentatious than pull paar affluent.

Serious shoppers still head to Hyderi, that’s exactly opposite Dolmen Mall. Hyderi, too has its own version of shopping mall in the form of Madni Mall. Nonetheless, for all those who used to head to Zamzama for shoe shopping can now find some good brands right here.

    many will frown ب-)

someone earlier said here that North Nazimabad is KDA Scheme 2, i verified it and am surprised it is true it was planned in late 50 an development work completed in early 60’s under Italian contractors and people started to construct houses and moved in late 60’s. Wow, It sure is a Place and TOWN Well planned then anywhere else in Karachi

well comparatively to the Dolmen of Tariq Road, this one is not that big. + its more like everything in big hall. Prices r high, but still every thing has a buyer , plus it will be too early to say that the store owners r suffering loses. But its a good addition to the already commercialized North Nazimabad’s Main artery.

No serious shoppers go to Tariq Rd. Hyderi Markets are more expensive than Tariq Rd market. I think most of looters run their business in Hyderi area. There is also not a wide range f verities. I don’t get who are those "serious shoppers" who like to empty their pocket in the hands of Hyderi shopkeepers.

I went to Dolmen Mall Hyedri last Sunday and to me its more like Park Towers than its namesake at Tariq Road. Considering the crowd present there, I don’t see the shops doing much business.

North Nazimabad is indeed KDA Scheme No.2. When Karachi was the capital, NN was planned to accommodate the Bureaucrats and Diplomats. The planning is very well done with wide roads and larger residential plots of upto 3000sq.yds. Each block had its huge central park and commercial areas for the residents. But alas, when the capital shifted to Islamabad, the area was neglected grossly.
As for the Hyderi shopping center, its overpriced, overcrowded and overly popular. Dolmen Malls opposite the man market area and one has to cross a pedestrian bridge over a 320ft wide road to get to it, so you cannot stroll around in Hyderi and walk into Dolmen Mall.
Hope it does better than the overcrowded Hyderi. Looking forward to visit it soon.
