City turns to daylight saving to address power crisis

The government has issued a notification to forward the clock one hour to get maximum benefit from day light. According to the official sources, the decision has been made in line with the Prime Minister’s direction regarding energy conservation in the country.

Similar moves to introduce daylight saving time in the country have failed previously. In 2002, the government decided to adopt daylight saving time, beginning from the first week of April, to maximize the use of daylight and to save energy. With power cuts and load shedding ranging from 12-16 hours I think we should forward our clocks to 5 hours so that we can export (smuggle) some power to neighbor Afghanistan like we did with wheat.

I wish People adopt it to daily life routine as well.

Am sure 1st to raise hue & cry will be MULLAHs. next comes the shopkeepers followed by Govt employees.

mental clock & stigma of nation is that we are LETHARGIC to Bone., I read in a book The Mirage of Power by Doctor Mubbashir Hasan – Specialist in Hydel electric generation, stating that in late 90’s WAPDA had surplus energy of 120MW and was about to sign a deal with Indian Govt for supply to Eastern Punjab as power export.

& The last study for Dam construction was made in 1989 after that there has been no feasibility study neither survey for a Dam for power generation in Pakistan.

Alsthom of France was willing to take Hydel power project of 200 MW on BOT as an IPP in Northern Pakistan based on feasibility floated by Govt of Pakistan, but was shelved when Saifur Rehman (REDCO Group) painted ALSTHOM a security threat because the Chief Engineer & Designer were French JEWs and was not given a security clearence to visit Pakistan.

Dr. Hasan is among founder members of PPP, an intellectual and a Believer. Founder father of Pakistan Pharma Industry in his Federal Cabinet days.

cunning corporates still didn’t apply DLS last time in Karachi and several offices kept their office up for 2/3 hours after office timings. M sure it’s not gonna make any difference at all since shopkeepers are not willing to listen govt.

I would suggest MQM’s professional goons to send in all markets after 8PM so that they can forcefully shut all business after 8PM.

I was about to post that Local Govts shall Put their "NAZIMs & their Teams" on Spree to enforce the DLS. be it MQM, PPP, ABCD, XYZ, JEAY SINDH, etc etc

Great, let us see how they SPIN it …

@shame-si: why u ppl have mulla fobia? mulla never has stopped such things. Go ahead and put the clock 1 hr ahead. I am sure its not gona benefit us like we are all lazy. We dont have aata , cost of every thing is sky high and this cheap decision of adopting DLS has been taken to SHOW that we are developed nation.

Illeterate politicians! and awam as well

Omar’s present motto, in his own words, is to "talk less, eat less and sleep less." And he now believes the most important thing to learn is "time management." "A person will succeed or fail depending on how well he uses his time," he maintains that IN Totality Muslim Ummah have failed in Time management.

If only everyone could follow it and do not think of it as "the wrong time" and follow it as the "right time". One hour? Hmmm… could we have moved it to two hours? Is that possible?
