Delhi and Karachi Together in One Voice

Every new advancement in technology opens new opportunities and new ideas immerge but some ideas are so fascinating that they make it to the history. One such amazing idea was experimented a few days back simultaneously at a Hotel in Delhi and at a local café “The Second Floor” in Karachi

The café was relived of all its furniture for the event and a floor seating was arranged. Seated in the corner on a slightly elevated stage were the Farid Ayaz and Abu Mohammad Qavvaal Party faced with a web camera and another web cam was aimed towards the audience.

On the wall were a large plasma and a projector screen showing a live views of the place where audience has to be seated in Delhi and the stage where the legendary Shubha Mudgal with her husband Dr. Aneesh Pradhan and other musicians were to perform shortly.

The event “One Voice” sponsored by Airtel and Music Today in collaboration with PeaceNiche was an experimental event where two master performers were to perform, one from Karachi and the other from Delhi for the audience both in Delhi and in Karachi over the broadband. The required broadband for this unique experiment in Delhi was provided Airtel and here in Karachi by Cybernet.

Present in the limited audience here at the Karachi end were a few eminent artists, architects, doctors, writers, and social workers. At the Delhi end too a small audience of selected people was arranged as this was just an experiment and not a public event. The event started without much hitch and the performance by Shubha ji and Aneesh ji from Delhi held the audience both in Delhi and Karachi completely spellbound. The performance of Qavvaaly by the Farid Ayaz and Abu Mohammad Qavvaal Party from Karachi too was highly enjoyed by both the audience. The event continued throughout it’s full and complete length without the slightest hiccup. In the end Shubha ji, Aneesh ji, Farid Ayaz, Zaheer Kidvai, Sabeen and Dr Ghazala and Organizers and others from both the cities exchanges words of gratitude and congratulated each other on the success of the experiment.

In the end another pleasant surprise Awaited. We were privileged to celebrate Dr. Aneesh ji birthday together and birthday greetings were sung together by both the audiences of the  two cities.

The event was truly a magical experience, with two masters performing although in two different cities but still face to face, together in an statement of harmony, in One Voice which blurred all the borders, differences and distances  between them and also between us the audience. We were at one place together enjoying, the same music, experiencing the same magic.

I hope such events would soon become possible on larger scales open for all to enjoy.

Yeah I agree cultural exchanges should increase, this is the only way to wipe off the negative image of a country only famous for civil unrest, political strife and all possible forms of negative propaganda. This is the only way this city can be portrayed as a friendlier place for artists.
