There is only one enemy of Pakistan and that is unfortunately inside Pakistan. It is called Punjab. Punjabi makes police, army, doctors, teachers and Quetta business whereas Balochi only is a rehri wala. Rich Punjabis increasingly buying land on Gwadar. Balochistan is a piece of pie for the Punjabi that he can’t let it go.

Why Punjabis feel the pain of Baluchis or of anybody else? Not because they love Baluchis, Pashtuns but the Punjabis reign all Pakistan on basis of sole qualification of population. If there is mayhem in Baluchistan or Karachi, the Punjabis feel their life being squeezed because they work in NWFP, Baluchistan and Sind and send money to Punjab. All three provinces is a gold mine for Punjabis to make ends meet. They don’t want their source of income dwindle.

@ Odin, your figures are incorrect, Karachi does provide 65% of total revenue (in taxation) to Govt. of Pakistan. Which is manily earned on import/export levies on sea ports, tax on almost 20Million people residing in Karachi, tax on industries and banks etc. But saying that 60% GDP comes from Punjab, is wrong. I will appreciate if you could provide figures from an authrnticated source on this blog.

Punjab does produce a large amount of agricultural products and is definetly not doing enough, otherwise we would have not seen the shortage of Wheat flour and sugar or rice for that matter.

Karach is a ‘Ghareeb-Parwar’ city and is host to many communities having different ethinic back ground and am proud of that – that I belong to such a cosmopolitan city.

And by the way, its not fair that you compare Karachi (a city) with whole Punjab (a provence).

@tazeen, i am sorry to say, but i am not blaming all of balochi’s for this, ask any of your friend who is employeed in any factory/mill in HUB, they will tell you either they want business from you or want to thug you!. i understand those bad boys are not in majority but they are powerful in their area. no body can stop them, hey can demand as much money as they want, and you have to obey them, cuz you are running your business in those thugs area.

well, i would definitely not blame baluchis for this. The gas was discovered in sui in 1952, it reached Pindi in 1956 and it took thirty years for it to get to Quetta. Who can blame Baluchis for feeling the way they do.

I have recently traveled to Quetta by road and no on asked me if I am punjabi or Pakhtoon. All we did was paid toll taxes and bought food on the way. They want business and if they get it, they are cool with it. They would not want to kill harmless people.

Memons or Punjabies or any one living in Karachi are also Muhajirs ideology because they are part of "developed" thinking. You know when you live in Karachi, you develop a style of thinking that is very different from Punjab. That is the reason that why no one sleeps hungry in Karachi and why every one wants to come to Karachi.

Regarding seaport in Karachi, that is our resource and we are maximizing it to earn money for us not for Punjab’s motor ways. If you don’t want to use our port then better use Kolkata. I am sure Baluchistan would never let Punjab use their Gwadar port either.

A normal Baloch, Sindhi and Pathan doesn’t differentiate between a Punjabi and Mohajir, and they have their valid reasons. Mohajirs worked together with Punjabis to secure their interests, although in the meantime they have lost their absolute power to Punjabis that they had enjoyed in the early years.
If you are a Mohajir go to interior Sindh and then tell me how much respect they have for Mohajirs.

Mastqalandar called only their leaders bandits, not every Baloch.

odin: They wouldn’t have been bandits and thugs had the government given them something. Ever since Pakistan was created, we have been consuming Balchositan’s natural resources. It’s a pitty that the province that provides gas to all other provinces has not been provided this basic utility!

I don’t blame Baluchies for what they doing with Punjabies. Punjab has done nothing but to loot Balochistan, Sindh and NWFP.
