As for the encroachment menace; let me assert safely that the hot spots for encroachers in Karachi are parts of Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Scheme 33 (University Road, Sparco Road, Pahelwan Goth, Safora Goth and areas joining Scheme 33). The major encroachers of the area happens to be big guns of PML(F), Jiyay Sindh (from Safora Goth to Pahelwan Goth) at times collection bhatta from petrol stations, departmental stores and even builders.

Baloch Colony happens to be one of the hubs of drugs distribution and transport mafia in Karachi where law and order is a serious problem. Thanks to the jurisdiction war between two police stations and encroacher’s affiliation with ANP & PPP.

well that is their modus operandi,first they open a sector/unit office then they screw up the entire neighborhood like i pointed out earlier in few of my comments:

p.s. 95% of all MQM’s sector/unit offices are built on enchroached land(i.e. public parks,playgrounds,Road Island/Green Area,Private property i.e. vacant plots etc)

The serious/major encroachment activities are now focused at the end of the University Road (from Karachi University to the end of Malir Cantt and some areas of Scheme 33).

Jaey Sindh is pretty active in those areas and is involved in serious / major encroachments at Superco Road, Pahelwan Goth (where Pashtoons call themselves as ANP to get the political mileage) and adjoining areas. Thanks to the recent legislation by the Sindh Government all the “kachi abadis” and encroachments will be legalized.

Case Study 1:
Land: 2000 yards
Worth: 2-3cr
Encroached by: Pir Pagara Son
Location: On the road where Ibn-e-Sena Hospital is (close from Chariton Flats) Close to Kamran Chorangi.

This prime plot is encroached by Pir Pagaras Goons from last 10-12 years. And now there’s a restaurant (like Al-Makkah) in process. The funny thing is: it used to be a PML (Q) office before then transformed into a PPP one and now a restaurant.

Case Study II:
Land: 3000-4000 yards
Worth: Rs.5-7cr
Encroached by: A well know Molana from Deobandi Sect (who brags on television about Islam).
Location: Close to Karachi University
Status: luxury apartments. All sold. Petition pending at the High Court.

Case Study III:
Type: Extortion / Bhatta
Political Party: Jeyay Sindh
Location: University Road / Safora Goth / Scheme 33

Recent Victims: Al-Farooq Builders (ex-nazim of Gulshan-e-Iqbal from Jamat-e-Islami) although due to the political affiliations; they sorted them out. Although lot of petrol stations (I personally know 3-4 who pays out Rs.5000 / month to Jeyay Sindh) apart from different departmental stores.

I personally believe that the major encroachers of our city are actually using political parties as a buffer to safeguard there economic interests and nothing more. Pashtuns play the ANP card and Sindhis PPP and Jaey Sindh.

What Barrister Sahib has said is the reality. With PPP encroachment will be a problem, all we can hope, is to limit the damage. Next thing you know, they will try to encroach upon Gulistan-e-Jauhar. It will be a battle of nerves between the City and the Prov. govts.

As for encroachment removal nobody can even hope to come close to the record of the present City government, have you forgotten the largest voluntary encroachment removal from New Karachi? but now the encroachment mafia has voice as well as a share in power.

For wannabes: Baloch Colony is mostly encroached by ANP / PPP guys. A friend of mine wanted to donate her flat to MQM to open a sector office at Defense View but the Sindhis / Pashtoons didn’t let it happen.

..in 1978 the Karachi Development Authority acquired 220 sq feet of land under the occupation of PAF Faisal Base from the railway line crossing to Malir for the construction of Shaheed-e-Millat Extension Road.

After the construction of the bridge at Baloch Colony, the government land beneath it was illegally encroached on, but former city Nazim Naimatullah Khan had it vacated.

what is baloch colony, we are good at ruining the localities stature at whim & whin of what stand on no ground, – it is Karachi Administration Employees Cooperative Housing Society KAECHS.

The area is under administration of KAECHS and any work is responsibility of KAECHS to coordinate with CDGK.

We all have heard mr. mostupha kudal all the time crying that stake holders are not interested to help CDGK so he is not wrong when his team does not act on such encroachments be it mr kudal or mr baybarkat ulla unless everyone step forward to team with CDGK things will remain under status quo

Just want to say that it is not only responsibilty of any specific singel person. Its responsibilty of all of us, to save it. And as Mustafa Kamal is mayor of this city so he have to lookafter all places in Karachi.Stop blaming and imposing responsibilities on each other, this is our city and country so we have to consider and solve its problems.
