tzaidi,

I was about to post the same link but just saw your message. Thanks for sharing the same with us. It is really frightening to even imagine Taliban on the streets of Karachi or any other modern city in Pakistan.

MQM has been raising voice about it for quite some time now but no one is paying attention! Pathan leaders (Shahi Syed, Ayub Awan, etc), Jamatis and other parties are not paying any attention because they want this to happen for their own evil reasons.

please read the news item : http://worldblog.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/09/30/1469342.aspx

These Talibans have been financing their wars by harvesting OPIUM. no wonder they will rob banks to finance their objectives in Karachi.

I hope Karachi stays clear from talbanization.

@mastqalandar,

You don’t get it do you? Making cliché statements does not work. No-one disagrees on government’s role on protecting the citizens of the land (MAJ made it clear during this his first speech at the constituent assembly on the role of the government in providing security).

What’s we are talking about is practicality and implementation of laws. We are talking about in consensus about precaution (from crimes and criminals) in Karachi’s context. We are talking about “Local Representation”, Greater Share of Resources while you are making cliché statements. Right now we are facing rapid deterioration in the security situation. Our police ordinance, which governs the conduct of police in our society traces its lineage to the 1860s, when it was created not to “serve and protect” the local citizenry, but to keep them cowed down and make them obey the imperial pronouncements of an unrepresentative power. If you read police-ordinance 2002 – more and more sane officers have urged the need to form policing on the Irish Constabulary model in Karachi and around Pakistan which is based on local representation. That’s the only solution.

There seems to an understand developing in Karachi and Sindh that migrants from other provinces are involved in crimes in Karachi and that needs to be checked and sorted out – especially Pakhtoons and from Punjab – I am predicting major rioting in times to come (Allah Khair Karay!)

it is the responsiblity of Govt.

But with MQM like any other political party, their goal is not to save and protect people but to implement their own idealogy like Bhuttoism, Altafism etc.

Oh! Bhai mastqalandar !!!
By Khilafat I mean all the Khalifas we had after Khilafat-e-rashida, thats from Banu Ummiyah to Bannu Abbas till last khilafat in Turkey. For your information I have read and have pretty good knowledge of Khilafat (in all eras).

I am no-one to comment on khilafat-e-rashida (main tou un kay jootay ki khaak bhi naheen), but the later chain of khilafat had a very colorful history, which we Muslim pretend to forget, anyways that’s not the subject of this post.

As Barrister sahib mentioned most of the law enforcement agencies’ top officials are not from Karachi, so how one expect them to understand the pain we go through every single day of our lives. They are here to serve their term and then they will be posted somewhere else.

This is not the solution, if we want to free Karachi from crime, then we have to make sure that the law enforcer is from the same locality and then only they will be answerable to the people in real sense.

Great! Since we have a consensus, what are we going to do about it? I am in a process of making a core-group in dealing with criminals and bandits (providing and helping them on legal issues and preparing them against threats from bandits – especially in arranging arm licenses for the Ahel-e-Zuban – it’s a must.).

(sorry for being a racist but only ahal-e-zuban are welcome)

Mastqalander,

Government makes the laws and the police implement it where judiciary is there to keep a “check and balance”. Unfortunately, the law-enforcement authorities in Karachi are aliens in Karachi and that’s exactly the problem.

Babar Khatta, IG Sindh is from NWFP

Mr. Rahoo Khan Brohi, AIG is from the borders of Balochistan and NWFP.

ZAFAR AHMAD FAROOQI, AIG, Investigation – from Lahore.

DIG Traffic is a Pashtun.

DIGs, PPO, CCPOs,TOs (TPOs) – 80% are not from Karachi – forget, the lower cadre (low ranking police) they are from Punjab majority and rest from Sindh.

And we talk about “OWNERSHIP”, “IMPOWERMENT” wah wah!

Zaidi Bhai great work! Zeeshan buhat achay!
