Geo Tv Blocked in Sindh

It is just being reported that Geo.Tv has been blocked in Sindh, initially the reports were coming in that this censorship was limited to Karachi, but a recent update on the website shows that this problem is throughout the province.

GEO.TV KARACHI: Geo Network’s transmission has been stopped on cable in a number of cities across Sindh including Karachi. Cable operators blocked the transmission of Geo Network in a number of areas across the city Monday morning, without assigning any reason for the stoppage. Similar reports of stoppage of Geo’s channels are being received from different parts of Sindh including Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and Sukkur.

The government as well as Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has expressed unawareness about the stoppage of channels.

Seems like Balma had extra Chilli Souce in his breakfast this morning….but totally agree with u my friend…but I do have objection on "KIS MOFO ……koshish ki ja rahee hai" part….isn’t obvious.
It would be much more appropriate if u also write the correct sentence as well to enlighten us all including TM Guru (Kaley Angrez)…..

Information Minister Sherry Rehman discreetly pointed finger towards MQM for the stoppage of Tv Channels .

Either Geo by mistake issued a clarification about the false propaganda being done by MQM about world’s 2nd best mayor or maybe MQM is unhappy about not getting enough coverage in media for Altaf’s telephonic address in North Nazimabad karachi in which he asked his militia members to get arms licenses ready, buy new guns .

Wht do you mean by discreetly points fingure, there is no news item which even suggests that.

As for blaming MQM, the past is not a proof for the future, if you cant prove tht MQM was responsible for this news blackout then please dont bother typing.

I don’t subscribe to censorship of any kind albeit against Fox NEWS look alike Geo. This shouldn’t happen.

On the other hand I would advise my country men to watch more of entertainment channels and they will see a marked improvement in their mental health. In the recent past unlike any other country in the world Pakistan news channels have become the # 1 entertainment for the masses , where screwed up talk show hosts hold a grip on peoples brains, damaging their ability to think independently and make sound judgements.

Well Sherry Rehman while talking in a talk show on Geo said that Pemra Chairman told her that those people who in past had been involved in blocking channels in Karachi same people were responsible for the stoppage this time as well and cable operators have been threatened by them. (Chairman was obviously referring to MQM).

btw you shouldn’t be really surprised or shocked as every one is aware that this party have been involved in faxing death threats to journalist in order to intimidate and threaten them

  10. d0ct0r on November 18th, 2008 @ 11:44 pm

They have been involved in sending bullet filled envelopes to journalists

    Pakistani journalists receive bullets threat

Pakistan : AFP and AP journalists are left envelopes with bullets

So the state is going towards anarchy and lawlessness, mainly due to the untiring efforts of the journalists and their lawyer friends. Welcome back to the 90’s my friend; this is a mess of your own creation.

Now we have a federal minister who defends burying of live women. Our President goes to Saudia with a delegation of 250, and all he finds is closed doors. Journalists have their ideological motivations or they simply push hefty black mail subscriptions and those who don’t need to subscribe, simply shut them down.

In my opinion, Pakistan in the last couple of years has suffered a very severe case of freedom indigestion, where too much freedom was given too soon; no body knew how to handle it. How to use it responsibly and, how to take in what was being aired. It would have been prudent just like Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey or UAE that media was given freedom in small doses, whereby, everybody had time to digest. But now its too late…..

  12. human01 on November 19th, 2008 @ 5:59 am

Dead on Kammi, can’t agree you more. Seems like our media is on steroids……or I would rather say, a true example of "BANDAR KEY HAATH NAARYAL" or "NAKHUN WALA GANJA"….
Freedom is good only if it comes with responsibility……in our case, it comes with total irresponsibility. Media got the freedom but didn’t know how to deal with it…..the morons who are running the show don’t even realize the impact and consequence of irresponsive reporting…….
The rest of the world is using their media to promote their ideas and views….some are using it as their propaganda machines…..and our media is doing great job by screwing our own country……

Geo TV ab kis ki kursi kay peechay para hai? :O

  20. kaami on November 20th, 2008 @ 11:33 pm

@Khaled90 I will second MB. Enough of your ranting, Karachi is a metropolitan city and its beauty and progress lies in its diversity. It’s one thing to debate political differences, constitutional in-equalities, injustices and resource distribution formulas between the provinces, but it’s totally screwed up to spew foul mouthed ethnic hatred like Nazis. It was the same kind of language that was propagated against Mohajir’s which led to the upheaval of the 70’s and no Sindhi benefited from it.

Its human nature to harbour prejudices towards those who are different from you but its being civilized that makes you see above and beyond such frivolous thoughts.

  21. khaled90 on November 21st, 2008 @ 12:58 am

    @ Kaami

don’t you see Punjabi Nationalism all around ?

Don’t you see the the dream of Greater Punjab is now becoming reality ?

3 provinces accept Dogar as CJ where as Punjab is recognizing Iftikhar Chaudhry as CJ and you are blaming me ?

The Punjabi Nationalism is in the air see all the Punjabi anchors what are they doing ?

Nawaz or Imran or Qazi(trusted Aid of punjabi establishment) are all saints and all the others are evils ??

Grow up we can see what is going on and till then read what Sindhi Nationalist saying.

  22. kaami on November 21st, 2008 @ 11:59 pm

@Khaled90, Punjabi Nationalism is around pre-partition and so does Pakhtoonism, Baluchism, Sindhi-ism and the latest Mohajirism. There is nothing wrong with being a nationalist unless the politicians try to leverage it and, other causes like religion, language and race to promote their screwed up ideologies / goals.

In an unstable country like Pakistan all of these factors are in play and being exploited by various groups. Some are working on a long term agenda of religious revolution others use them for petty objectives like victory in the next elections. Right now unstable alliances are forming between the so called progressive-lefties like PPP, MQM and ANP on one side and (religio-right) Muslim League Nawaz, Jamaat-e-Islami and PTI on the other. The problem is that none of them trust each other, hence, they cannot work together to take this nation forward. Since PML, PTI and JI have pretty much shrunked to Punjab, so they will have to carry that stigma with them. Furthermore, none of the above parties have control of the North (which is now owned by our Arab guests). On top of all this, are the media folks and the lawyers who are running around like mad dogs biting everything in their path, creating even more confusion.

The other major problem with Pakistan unlike any other nation is that there is no ideological or basic political consensus among the populace of how to carry this country forward / backward. And of course, after every mis-adventure we can always blame America and wash our hands of any wrong doing. So my friend the politics of race, language is not going away, every party will use one card or the other, overtly or covertly. We had a chanced opportunity with Musharraf, to use the enormous human / material resources of this nation for some common good, sadly we have lost that opportunity to senseless movement mongering

  23. kaami on November 22nd, 2008 @ 12:01 am

@Khaled90 so the thing to keep a hold on is your sanity and the qualities that make you a good human.

  24. khaled90 on November 22nd, 2008 @ 1:23 am

I would become a good human when all the pakistanis including Punjabi pathans sindhis becomes good humans.

    Wafa Karo gay
    Wafa karain Gay

    Jafa karo gay
    Jafa karain gay

    Ham admi hain tumharay jaisay
jo tum karo gay wo ham karain gay.

If Punjabies have the right to be punjabi Nationalists so did I.

  25. zeeshan on November 22nd, 2008 @ 8:06 am

I hope GEO dies a horrible bloody death. They have stolen peace from our lives

  26. barristerakc on November 22nd, 2008 @ 12:14 pm

Minority groups in Pakistan are going to continue blaming the Punjabis as long as Punjabis pursue their unrealistic goals of hegemony and domination. The oppressed people will continue to detest the Punjabis as long as the Punjabi-dominated Paki army continues to commit violence, murders, rapes, looting, and arson in the homes of Pakistanis who happen to be non-Punjabis. Have you noticed that this Paki Army has NEVER committed the violence and murders at the scale that it has perpetrated its oppression against Bengalis, Mohajirs, Sindhis, Baluchis, and Pathans.

And that’s why Mohajir Nationalism, Baloch Nationalism, Sindhi Nationalism is justified.
