The Media Mum – who is behind ?
Our brave media recently went mum again and since there was again no official reason/confirmation/notice/press release ETC. every tom dick and harry has his chance to jump in for a comment. I avoided it for few days merely because i had absolutely no idea. But now, as time passes, and as it is always the case, guess who came out behind the curtain . . . . . again . . . .
Mr. Khudnood tries to clear the picture at DAILY JINNAH. Readers will read it all below but i 100% agree to his views on biased/selective truth our media churns out these days. Everyone know how brave they become when Fazal ur Rehman, or Mr Zardari or Nawaz or previous president were to be dragged but will we ever see a day when they can ever name those “namaluum afraad” (unidentified men) or change it into some meaningful names or groups etc . . .

Bloggers should have some sort of responsibilities to others. There are certainly problems with existing tort law. Litigation is expensive apart from different technical and jurisdictional complexities. The solution is to create a system for ensuring that blogers speak responsibly without the law’s cumbersome costs. Blogging has given amateurs an exceptional amount of publishing power, and although we should encourage blogging, we shouldn’t ruin our defamation laws in the process. Words can wound.
I request Dr.Awab & His Team to formulate a strategy and a code of conduct for themselves.

KARACHI: The Taliban are present in Karachi and have links with the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Sipah-e-Sahaba and other banned religious organisations, but they have no intention of carrying out attacks in the provincial capital if not provoked by a political party or the government, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Mullah Omer has told Daily Times.
Talking exclusively to the newspaper, Omer said his organisation would not disrupt peace in the port city. “The Taliban have never been involved in any type of terrorism in Karachi,” he claimed. “And we will not be involved in any such activity in future until a political party or the government leaves us with no other choice.”
Omer, however, said his organisation had no links with Al Qaeda. He said the TTP had not been able to lay its hands on evidence suggesting the presence of Al Qaeda in the Tribal Areas. “The name of Al Qaeda is being used to attack the Taliban … the operation in the Tribal Areas is meant to target the Taliban.” faraz khan
MQM threatened cable operators to take GEO and ARY off air. Reason was quite obvious and both GEO and ARY were aware why they were being ‘punished’ by goons from MQM , they didn’t gave enough air time and just aired parts of fake propaganda speech of Altaf in which he was congratulated Mustafa Kamal on becoming 2nd best mayor of the world. Information Minister was perplexed and called up PEMRA chairman to inquire about who ordered to down these channels off air, Pemra Chairman after inquiring from his ground staff told her that those people who in past had been involved in blocking channels in Karachi same people were responsible for the stoppage this time as well and cable operators have been threatened by them. (Chairman was obviously referring to MQM).

Irony is that ARY One world news channel which is often tagged by viewers as MQM channel coz it gives unreasonably excessive coverage to MQM and Altaf. Altaf bai coughed and there will be a news ticker on ARY that Altaf bai coughed . Some one from MQM’s Rabita committee sneezes and they’ll run a ticker about that. MQM’s terror wing chief Saleem Shahzad will arrive here in Karachi and they’ll give a minute by minute update until he leaves the airport. So basically atleast Poor ARY was doing more then enough to appease MQM (Actually they don’t have much choice either, ARY group have business interests in Karachi. Altaf bai and his MQM militia threatens and extort(Bhatha) money from both large and small business houses like Rehman Dakait does. So ARY group being smart businessman that they are, continue giving protection money to Altaf and his criminal gang.
On the other hand although Geo didn’t caved in to the pressure from dictator and choose to close down their channel for 80 days suffering billions in losses, they too are helpless when it comes to voilent and brutal thugs like Altaf and his MQM’s criminal gang. Despite their excessive and undue coverage of fake propoganda news of world 2nd best mayor both of them were taken off air for not showing the full speech of grand terrorist Altaf.

1/ I admit I don’t see any justification for this action, Geo (AKA FOX PAKISTAN) should not be blocked – Period. This won’t solve any thing, it wont make media responsible or truthful neither it will stop their campaign style transmissions. MQM and others should admit that they lost the battle of the media to the Jamatees, whose infiltration is phenomenal, no use fighting it, live with it.
If the media wants to make this war mongering nation despondent, sick and worthless, so be it.
2/ Coming to the article, it has been a very interesting read, especially the part where Imran Khan curses the political leaders who go to London to meet Altaf. I remember not long ago Mr. Khan also made quite a few trips to London claiming to bring back Altaf by such and such date, visiting Scotland yard and what not, instead he got beaten up by his allies and he still keeps company with sympathizers and abettors of International terrorism. I sometime wonder what his feelings about crack pots Osama Bin Laden and Aiman Al Zawahiri are. They must be his heroes, I never heard him condemning them.
3/ My Message to MQM: Keep up the good work that you guys are doing. Develop your city and keep it safe. There is no use fighting inconsequential battles with the media, they have already lost credibility in the eyes of the public by playing their part in bringing back thiefs and liers to power. Now dont give them a life line.

I believe that all blogers and writers have an “agenda” but “dispassion” is a critical asset and deliberations like this blog-post (one-example) does indeed usually culminate in decisions and positions.
It’s so obvious that partisan and convenience of you, Sir & your team – overwhelming majority of them are known supporters of Tahreek-e-Insaaf (a political party which openly supports religious extremism and are Taliban apologists whose members have broke all records of hate crimes against Mohajirs – the largest ethnic group of Karachi & Urban Sindh) have hijacked ethical deliberations and respect for sensibilities of the local populace of Karachi.
The KMB bandwagon should realize that the “me” culture creates wars and that solid ethical consideration really pays off in increased credibility and respect.
And that YOUR blogers on KMB should act within a framework of social obligation and political responsibility instead of defaming MQM & Mohajir Community.
It’s interesting to note that 10 Anti Mohajir/MQM posts were published to this date in the month of November alone. STOP THIS MADNESS, PLEASE!

I don’t know about the motivations of all of the KMB Bloggers, I know some of them are mouth pieces of PTI, but that doesn’t make any difference. They post what they post and we comment, in fact I love it this way, otherwise it would be too boring.
To KMB’s credit, they don’t block comments, however, they could use one or two bloggers who are more sympathetic towards the representatives of this city, just to give KMB a balanced outlook, I don’t know its up to them. Its their baby.
However, my complain would be regarding what they do not choose to cover, for instance:
“YOU GUYS HAVE NOT COVERED A SINGLE EVENT ORGANIZED BY KARACHI ARTS COUNCIL AFTER ITS REVIVAL”
AND THEY CAN ALSO COVER:
