Live @ Karachi Bloggers Meetup

Righto…. we are live at the bloggers meet up in Karachi, waiting for the event to start. Everyone who is anyone in the blogging community of Karachi is here along with a lot of us who have particularly flown down from Isloo and Lahore for this event, further updates to come as soon as the whole thing kick starts.

Awab alvi and Sabeen mahmud speaking to the community and telling us how and why they started out with Rabia Garib presiding over affairs mic and wit both in hand.

UPDATE 3:30pm

Great question and answer session going on at the moment, with the community airing their despair about uninformed comments and irresponsible blogging. With Awab and Sabeen clearing the air and comparing it to print media being no better, or about the same with interaction and fact checking.

New revelations in the form of an urdu font being available in the shape of a “nastaliq font” for bloggers who want and prefer to write in their national language.

UPDATE Badar kushnood from Google Pakistan speaking about blogging and the how to’s of it for the people who are here to learn.

Haris and Saad from Lahore and Isloo respectively speaking about how they started blogging and what it means to them.  interesting fact to note, the whole audience is still present, no stragglers or quick exiters here, dedication reigns big in the Karachi blogging community!!

I left soon after this part, but the event was a smash success in my opinion, the organization was brilliant and the best thing was everyone gathered in 3 days just via face book invites. It was great to meet a lot of people i have come to know by their nicks only and learn some new things about live presentation and impromptu oration. Great stuff people, my personal congrats to all the organizers, speakers and promoters!!

The only video link i had was streaming while the event was taking place, so its not on now. I will try to find a video and put it up as well!!

once my cricket coach told me before a game that “you don’t play against opponents, you play against the game of cricket”…

  11. barristerakc on December 8th, 2008 @ 1:46 am

Ah! As expected, the “character assassinators” are working full time to break our unity – they are fools and will die there own death hating us!

I had received atleast 17 emails (yes, I have counted them) until now of my picture and being all “good” with Dr.Awab Alvi. Some of the “maharban” brothers and atleast one sister have branded me a traitor to the cause.

The point of me going to the Blogers Summit (ignoring couple of prior commitments) was to counter the Pisser-e-Zameen lot and yes, I asked questions prorably not suited to the decorum and believe me, they were “tough” especially about the lies, victimization of Mohajirs, Mustafa Kamal Issue and ethical responsibility of blogers blogging…..

As far as Awab’s concerned, he’s a friend and yes, we meet (even Israelis-Palestinian’s meet up) and although I respect him and vice versa – we have serious ideological difference …abb mein ussay mar tu nahi sakta na? just because he’s a PTI member and is Anti-MQM/Mohajir…?

I apologize if I hurt anyone’s feelings and understand the feelings, apprehensions and concerns…point taken!

Good News is that Jamash is made the new “Captain” of KMB where Teeth Maestro has voluntarily stepped down. Jamash Sahib has promised to end the bigotry, hypocrisy and spam unleashed by some Pisser-e-Zameen on KMB.

  12. khaled90 on December 8th, 2008 @ 2:32 am

well barrister i have my fingers crossed for Jamash.

I hope he won’t let this forum to be used as Anti MQM or Anti Mohajir forum.

  13. fursid on December 8th, 2008 @ 3:05 am

I disagree very respectfully with you Khaled Bhai; do not underestimate the power of an underdog. In Jamash, I see a man of great vision and immense courage and atleast, I am hopeful that our new editor of KMB will deliver and will show courage, neutrality and make KMB reflect the opinions of majority of this city and not encourage the “fitnas” and “ghadars” like MB & Islamist Terrorists like Adnan Siddiqui’s to post against 12 million residents of this city and Mohajirs …..

  16. HITMAN (hitman) on December 8th, 2008 @ 9:20 pm

thats really a courageous move by teeth I must say.

Oh, so now we will be subjeceted to MQM propoganda?
Hey, lets keep it fair and balanced, not like that militant fanatic Bill O’Reily :-)

Since criticizing on every thing no matter what is our national duty, so I would say the chairs on stage looks funny, especially when some one is sitting on it…..seems like it is inspired by toilet seats….just an observation….
Glad to see the pics…finally I can put some faces to the names…good job Faisal. It would be even better if the pics were tagged with names as well….
& Barrister nice to see you there, btw who is the other guy besides you, Awab I know, the other one?

  28. barristerakc on December 11th, 2008 @ 5:47 pm

Seskey Bhai, yaar aatay maza aataa!!!
Minority groups in Pakistan are going to continue blaming the Punjabis as long as Punjabis pursue their unrealistic goals of hegemony and domination…
As for your East Punjab Status and Identity…the hypocritical Pisser-e-Zameen describe Musharraf (born in Delhi, 1943) as a Mohajir and Liaqat (born in Karnal, 1896) as a Punjabi because Karnal was in Punjab in 1947. Now where was Delhi at that time? Was it in UP? No, it was in Punjab!!! The boundary of UP ended at Meerut which is 72 km north of Delhi.

So even Musharraf is not Mohajir if we take the status of Karnal and Delhi in 1947 as our litmus test :))))

  29. rockfella25 on December 12th, 2008 @ 4:37 pm

hehe it seems that barristerakc suddenly trying to turn into the love guru or saint here.

re musharraf being a Punjabi, barristerakc, seems from your above post you sound appologetic being a Mohajir …. "koi gal nahi yaar, sadday naal rawo gay teh aish karo gay"

  30. barristerakc on December 12th, 2008 @ 6:41 pm

Rockfella Mian, in your own “PON-JABI” there’s a saying,
moonh tay na matha, jin paharon latha mian it suits you and as for the example please read what I had written (what’s you IQ meter in negative?) I was pointing towards hypocrisy of your species “dost”.
I have still not forgiven my chacha for marrying a Punjabi from Faisalabad…there’s a code within Mohajir families of not giving there daughters to Punjabis (bad experiences) and bringing in Punjabi Women in our families (very bad experiences – I am serious) – shows how apologetic Mohajirs are about their ethinicity….. Innit?  ……continued…
PS. Eid Mubarak….*sips Punjbi / Pashtun Blood*

  31. rockfella25 on December 12th, 2008 @ 9:03 pm

i thought that code for your family was "never SELL daughters to…."

anyway, looking at your pic from the Bloggers meetup, i really think you need to put some meat in it, as you know when the pathans have you , they would demand some serious meat at that place.

  32. Shamsi (shamsi) on December 14th, 2008 @ 4:41 pm

damn all of you who are divided between ethnic non-sense.

by the what was purpose of the meet – to expose anti & pro elements – and see who are suitable to accept be part of Tide,

any idea how many were doing the video & snaps SOME people have the audio & video tapes screening every face & speaker.

So be careful when trying to be active in such meets which try to surely "DEPICT" as voice of common, which in reality they are not.

  33. seskey on December 15th, 2008 @ 12:19 pm

lou ji aab iss bahanchood shamsi nai bhi gand phar di sab ki abay charyyeay ham apnay dushman khud hain hamay dushman sai koyee kkhatra nahi, yasir arafat ko israel nai 35 saal marnay nahi deya tha ham bhi issi tarha apnay dushman kai khon par pal rahay hain
