Benazir Bhutto Coin

State Bank of Pakistan here in Karachi announced that it will issue about 300,000 special 10-rupee coins. The coin will read in Urdu, “Daughter of the East, Benazir Bhutto”. I shall reserve my comments for 27th when the coin will be issued but i would like to know what readers think on this. Previously we had only Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal and Fatima Jinnah in the list.

    What a waste of national resources once more. That too on a dead soul. While her life was wasted, there is no need to waste anything more for her. Not worth the bandwidth.

    I believe, Nawabshah is now officially called Benazir City.

    This is just the beginning, wait for the time when you see Zardari on Rs 100 & 500 bills & the whole freakin family photo on 1000 & 5000 bills. I hope the morons who were dancing on streets at Mushi’s departure would have their dream come true now…………suck it up people, we got what we deserve.

    Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has declared Dec 27 (Monday) a public holiday to mark the first anniversary of assassination of Benazir Bhutto.

    Perhaps Zardari knows that the only reason he’s at the throne is because of his association with the Bhutto name. Therefore he will try as much as he can to label and cloak almost everything during his tenure as a continuation of the Bhutto legacy rather than his own. Its smart thinking. By making such moves, Zardari hopes to make the Bhutto name into a Pakistani icon, and this will give him currency (no pun intended) as an almost-Bhutto should he choose to engage in political endeavors in the future.

    A person in lahore has filed A petition in Lahore high court claiming that BB coin should be withheld as She is a disputed personality and she is no were as compare to Quaid-e-Azam & Alama Iqbal Stature (the only two person who photo has been printed on coins) and in case if an opponent of PPP refuses to accept this coin as a legal tender than It will be a great insult of credibility of state
