Complaints of Tainted Milk?
A number of complains have been received by a lot of shops in the Defence Phase 2 area for carton milk of 2-3 different brands. Could be seasonal or just a bad batch in the market, but please be careful before you drink from a fresh carton. If you could post any similar experiences, we can perhaps try and figure out if there are more of these complaints out there and perhaps bring it to the attention of the relevant companies.
In Other Blogs: Karachi ek maa hai, Bambai bichada hua beta.
I came across this blog by Samvartha ‘Sahil’, where he mentions a poem by Nida Fazil.
Here is the poem he mentions:
” Karachi ek maa hai
Bambai bichada hua beta
yeh rishta pyar ka pakeezha rishta hai jise ab tak
na koi tod paaya hai
na koi tod paayega
na meri maa kabhi talwaar taane ran me aayi hai
na maine apni maa ke saamne bandook uthaayi hai
yeh kaisa shor-o-hangaama hai yeh kiski ladaayi hai
Karaachi ek maa hai. ”
Nida Fazli,

Bakra eid arrives
Hey hey its Eid Tomorow, Eid ul Adha to be specific and as we Karachites go around buying up what we can with four feet attached (at crazy prices) I thought it would be good if we could all remember the following suggestions.
- Keep thy neighborhood clean people, less offal more sanitary stuff, blood on the sidewalks makes for a distasteful and smelly sight.
- Do remember the spirit of the occasion, it is better to distribute meat to those who cannot afford to eat it than have fancy bbq’s for friends who eat it all the time.
- The price of the Qurbani “DOES NOT MATTER” although we as Karachites have a habit of going “bhai kitna ka hay” it is really not important, what is important is that it is accepted in the eyes of god.
- Qurbani is not mandatory, except for haj. So for those of us who could not afford it this year do remember it is just a “if you can” part of Islam. There is also no stipulation which says one animal per person or any other such rubbish.
I would also like to wish each and every one of you Karachites and my fellow KMB team a very happy and scrumptious Eid. Eid Mubarak people, let the slaughter begin!!!
the downpour
last night our city was blessed with teeny weeny bit of rain, and just as I was about to write about it, I was blessed with (lack of) power. but I guess it was a blessing in disguise cause ITS POURING right now!
woohoo! :)
Live @ Karachi Bloggers Meetup
Righto…. we are live at the bloggers meet up in Karachi, waiting for the event to start. Everyone who is anyone in the blogging community of Karachi is here along with a lot of us who have particularly flown down from Isloo and Lahore for this event, further updates to come as soon as the whole thing kick starts.
UPDATE 3pm
Awab alvi and Sabeen mahmud speaking to the community and telling us how and why they started out with Rabia Garib presiding over affairs mic and wit both in hand.
UPDATE 3:30pm
Great question and answer session going on at the moment, with the community airing their despair about uninformed comments and irresponsible blogging. With Awab and Sabeen clearing the air and comparing it to print media being no better, or about the same with interaction and fact checking.
New revelations in the form of an urdu font being available in the shape of a “nastaliq font” for bloggers who want and prefer to write in their national language.
UPDATE 4pm SOCIAL ACTIVISM INTERACTIVE SESSION ENDS
UPDATE Badar kushnood from Google Pakistan speaking about blogging and the how to’s of it for the people who are here to learn.
UPDATE 4:30 PM GOOGLE INFORMATION SESSION ENDS
Haris and Saad from Lahore and Isloo respectively speaking about how they started blogging and what it means to them. interesting fact to note, the whole audience is still present, no stragglers or quick exiters here, dedication reigns big in the Karachi blogging community!!
I left soon after this part, but the event was a smash success in my opinion, the organization was brilliant and the best thing was everyone gathered in 3 days just via face book invites. It was great to meet a lot of people i have come to know by their nicks only and learn some new things about live presentation and impromptu oration. Great stuff people, my personal congrats to all the organizers, speakers and promoters!!

The only video link i had was streaming while the event was taking place, so its not on now. I will try to find a video and put it up as well!!
Will LEA be able to clean Karachi from arms?
Gov. has once again decided to clean Karachi from arms (more) and therefore few steps are being taken. Such announcements were made in past too and we know the results. The main problem is on the WILL side and not just TECHNICAL. We can only hope that this mini operation bear some fruits. But few important questions must be addressed, mainly: 1. Who will monitor our highly politicized police which works almost as backup support for different political parties on practical grounds. 2. People have absolutely no faith in police, how and who will restore it. 3. Since all political parties have mini militant wings in some loose/concrete shape. How the gov. plans to tackle it? 4. Gov. should include media to fight its case it it believes its honest in its resolve. And at the end, will they really be able to do it this time?
