As a Karachiite, you’re torn between wanting the rain and not wanting. Wanting it for the obvious reasons, but not wanting it because it almost always took away electricity and phones with it. So not cool!

When I came to Karachi some ten years back, I was so downcast. Having spent a lifetime in a village, I found the cultural shock rather big. I wanted to go home back. "Five years! Oh, my God", I said to myself. But I had to spend those five years in order to complete medical school.

Unlike what I had anticipated, Karachi was different. I started liking the place. In fact, at a point in time, I was almost in love. I really cherished my stay in the city. I made friends with so many people. Karachi became a part of my life. I would simply not like to leave the city.

I loved it when it rained in Karachi. Coz rain is not common in Karachi. I have some of my sweetest memories associated with rain in Karachi.

I terribly miss Karachi now that I am no more there. How I wish I could see the rain!

And yes it is on days like these that one feels that nothing can go wrong….! Though everything can but the lovely weather makes up for it.:)
