Put on your ZOOt suit, and let’s go to the zoo!

Some ideas come to mind on improving the Karachi Zoo:

  • More trash bins
  • Better uniforms for staff, plus increase their salaries to reflect a higher quality of care
  • Add more animals to the zoo
  • Replace the elephant that passed away a while ago
  • Improve the infrastructure in the surrounding areas – making it easier to access the zoo
  • Consider adding an aquarium; hire a good marine biologist and since we’re on the sea make a nice saltwater aquarium.
  • Increase the admission by at least 10 to 20 rupees (thereby generating funds to make improvements)
  • Participate in cultural events and spread awareness of the Karachi Zoo
  • Promote the zoo in local and area schools
  • Allot school days, where the zoo is closed to the public and only students can enter using a special pass.  In exchange for full-day access, schools could then donate larger sums of money rather than just the admission fees
  • Fund raising drives from time to time
  • Schedule animal shows
  • Establish a gift shop like most other zoos in the world

    good suggestions
-but increasing the entry ticket will never never increase the fund used for better care, rather it will decrease the number of visitors
-about adding more animals, we have plenty of those in our parliament

The animals in the Parliament are of common variety. We should add rare variety of animals in the zoo like Fazalullah of Swat. To see animals like him I am sure public will not mind paying the enhanced entrance fee. He will also be a great attraction for school children specially the female students.

Ah, the good old Gandhi Garden!

Good suggestions. Gandhi Garden (the Zoo) should add a Sea World like aquarium apart from getting couple of killer whales and that will be “a killer”.

i have an even better suggestion

Put all politicians in this ZOO and its revenue will shoot exponentially
    lol

On a serious note, the suggestions are good

Politicians are common variety of domestic animals like pig, donkey and dog etc. Their placement in the zoo will not affect its revenues; exponentially or linearly :-)

On a more serious note I suggest they should be placed in an animal farm. The type of farm George Orwellian talked about.

Students of SZABIST recently did an environmental awareness day at the zoo, with approx 1000+ primary school children participating. The idea was to not just make them more aware of prevailing environmental issues but also familairize them with the zoo itself; it proved to be quite successful. Such initatives and activities should be encouraged.
