What If Today Is Lost, There Is Always Tomorrow..

lostI spotted this kid right outside expo center, sitting by the foot path. His humble merchandize, a dish full of Chola chart spilled on the dirty roadside, while he cried over his loss. I gave a few bucks to him and moved on. The next morning on the same spot I saw him again with a fresh dish of the same kind of chola chart, happy and giggling when he approached my car and I asked him “Aren’t you the same boy who was crying right there, yesterday” and he answered back with a broad smile “yes Sahib, this is all a routine of life” ….

    When u saw this?. I also spotted this boy about a month or two back with same condition at same spot. A dish full of Chola chart spilled on the roadside, while he was sitting in same style over his loss. I asked my driver to stop the car to give some bucks to this boy, but my driver told me that this is a trick to take money as he has seen this boy many times with same condition.

    Seems like i encountered this guy too- and to be more precise, a lot of similar ones. Initially i was fooled, but soon I learnt about the new trick in the town.
    Unfortunately, no matter how much i want to help them, I have stopped donating to such sort of drama kings and queens and would rather drop a few nickels to the senile looking guy who i am sure is another pawn in this game.

    Sir, this is strictly between you and me. KD himself is now somewhat scared of these lunatics though he does not admit so infront of Mrs KD. So right now I am waiting for them to start their march towards Islamabad and I move back to Karachi pronto. At least there I will have some, who have the courage of their conviction. I will join them to fight these lunatics to the bitter end.

    " God Bless America"

    And its angels of mercy the drones, ameen sum ameen.

    Shifting back to Karachi will not be a big deal for KD. After all he has spent more years of his life in Karach than in Islamabd. All his child hood and young days friends are there. And then it will be for a cause KD believs in most passionately, freedom and liberty. There he will be able to fight the fascists. There is not going to be much of a fight here as history of this area tells us.
    Punjab never put up any resistence to such hordes from north west in the past. In fact it joined them and facilitated their march to the east of India. They were only stopped and confronted at Pani Pat. This time I wouldn’t be surprised if the last battle of Pani Pat takes place in the streets of Karachi. I want to be part of this last battle of Pani Pat at Karachi, which is though no more a city of lights as such, is a city of light illuminating the pathway which we all have to follow if we want to survive as a free, civilised and democratic country.

    " Only a lover can fight the lunatic…."

    I doubt it. A fanatic perhaps yes. A lunatic no. Love has no meaning for a lunatic. The only love they seem to have is for Hoors in Jannat for which they are even prepared to sacrifise the natural love of their mothers, sisters or wives here on this earth.

    Yesterday I came across a very interesting statement of Pascal about love at his death bed, when flipping through The Pleasures of Phiosophy by Will Durant. I want to quote it for you. I will do so after relocating the page where I read it.

    Laplace, dying, rebuked the friends who tried to console him with the fame of his discoveries and his books; these he told them sadly, were not the important things in life. "What then?" they asked. And the old scientist, fighting for one more breadth, answered, " Love."

    Sir I rest my case….and the uncle wins the war….so what about love..?

    I dreamt a dream! What can it mean?
    And that I was a maiden Queen
    Guarded by an Angel mild:
    Witless woe was ne’er beguiled!

    And I wept both night and day,
    And he wiped my tears away;
    And I wept both day and night,
    And hid from him my heart’s delight.

    So he took his wings, and fled;
    Then the morn blushed rosy red.
    I dried my tears, and armed my fears
    With ten thousand shields and spears.

    Soon my Angel came again;
    I was armed, he came in vain;
    For the time of youth was fled,
    And grey hairs were on my head.
    (The Angel by William Blake)

    " the uncle wins the war….so what about love..?"

    After the uncle wins the war then we follow the advice of Omar Khyyam:

    Oh, love! could thou and I with Fate conspire
    To grasp this sorry Scheme of Things entire,
    Would not we shatter it to bits–and then
    Re-mould it nearer to the heart’s desire!

    And what else could be the hearts desire but what he says in another rubai:

    Here with a Loaf of Bread beneath the Bough,
    A Flask of Wine, a Book of Verse—and Thou
    Beside me singing in the Wilderness—
    And Wilderness is Paradise enow.

    Sir, don’t make such wide ranging generalized assertins while you are doing multitasking. Such things need deeper thought and understanding. I would not like to give detailed reasons here for the factual position in this regard as follows:

    1. It is true one longs for a thing which one doesn’t have.
    2. It is true in the west sex is more easily available for various reasons. Also bear in mind it is neither a taboo there nor a crime between two adult consenting partners.
    3. It is incorrect to assume there is no love in the west or they are crying for love.
    4. The secret of our long lasting marriages is not love but other financial and social compulsions and constraints.
    5. It is a mistake to think that the middle class and lower class morality is the same. It is not same either in the west or in the east.
    6. I have a total of 42 (upper and middle class)English friends (college mates) I am in touch with through email. Out of these 42 only two or three got divorced and remarried. All the rest are living happily with their old ladies.
    5. We do have a undue facination for wine and women because of the taboos etc.

    "Sir, don’t make such wide ranging generalized assertins"

    Sir, fasee was just gettign even for THEY generalise us, bearded, camel riding, 4 burqa clad wives and living in a tent in a desert.

    so whats the probelm if i generalise cascasions as booze guzling, incest induylging, marriage wrecking arseholes.

    yes, i agree we can diffrentiate bewtween the family guys, who rear children, fudn there college education, die still maried to the first chick they scored with.

    but so goes for us, shudnt we be segragated away form the likes of maulvi fazlulah and sufi muhamad.

  41. fasee on April 22nd, 2009 @ 10:08 am

    @ KD.

    "3. It is incorrect to assume there is no love in the west or they are crying for love."

    there is no such thing as 100 % or 0 %, its just a matter of posibilities…posibility of finding a virgin who wud stay loyal to you, and dont sleep woith others, after you or within yourwed lock , i scertainly lower than in east….alhtough the diffrence is decreasing, but still is a considerbale disadvantage

    "4. The secret of our long lasting marriages is not love but other financial and social compulsions and constraints."

    Agreed…social & financial independence has trimed down the moral fabric into a bikini….destoyed marriages and created psyopaths….

    sexual freedom is the natural requirment for single independet individuals….here we HAVE to marry becasue we have to satisfy our libido and have no other venue.

    "5. It is a mistake to think that the middle class and lower class morality is the same. It is not same either in the west or in the east."

    impresionable middle and lower class is the biggest victim….sir vist korangi and you will see more blonde streaked fitting dress women then in middle or upper middle income…poor souls.

    "6. I have a total of 42 (upper and middle class)English friends

    i replied bout it in my porevious mail

    5. We do have a undue facination for wine and women because of the taboos etc.

    part of our facination is due to its power of its taboo label…….otehrwsie half of us taste it and wud have droped it off as " Not my type" thingy

    @ all, I didn’t read all the comments on this photo, except for a few. I wanna say a couple of things, first; it’s sad to see kids not making an honest earning and using cheap tricks like these esp thinking that they’ll get away with these tricks. They also don’t realize the detrimental effects it has on others, however, I don’t think we should tag others in the same category, if seen in the same situation. So if I was so see another person in the same position, with his daily bread and butter spilled over, I would stop and giving him money even though he maybe faking it. Why? because to me it doesn’t matter, as long as my intention of helping is present, I can live with being fooled as long as I know I wanted to help. Now as for this kid, if I come around and see him again in the same position, that’s a whole different game and I would probably confront him and ask him what the heck is wrong with him and why he’s doing this over and over again. Nonetheless, interesting post.
