More parking plazas needed
Karachi has a serious traffic problem. With only one artery which is the Shah Ra E Faisal running through out the city and non existant parking in the down town area of Karachi plus the parking mafia ruling the pavements has made driving anywhere and running even simple errands in the city a nightmare.
Although in the last few years many fly overs and amendments have been made to the road structure of the city one huge problem has been overlooked so far and that is parking.
Currently there is a move going on to make a huge 4 story parking plaza near bohri bazaar and another 3 story one at khadda market but this not going to be enough.
I suggest that the entire downtown area should be turned into a “no car zone” and only pedestrians walking should be allowed thus enabling office workers, businessmen and traders to go about their business in peace, rather then it taking 45 minutes to find parking and that too at the behest of the neighborhood sidewalk don who then has the leeway to throw your car whenever he wants, to be retrieved when you gingerly ask for it back, with fender benders and minor milage issues included.

but I believe such plazas are more needed in Commercial Area of DHA, as there is no proper parking facilities.
I hope other would agree with this too.
Thats really true, i would say that parking plazas, in roads like University Road, Rashid Minhas Road and mainly the M.A Jinnah Road. Btw, i came across an interesting website =P Do visit this lol.. It increases the Transport thingy of Karachi virtually! =P Its intresting to blog about =D

Tariq road definitely needs one. Also Empress Market area should be converted to a pedestrian only zone.

finally we are coming to the realization that the policy(policies) was wrong….what we needed was less cars….less flyovers/underpasses and a better mass transit system….Alas.

@fasee sab…..sir if ten years ago….or seven years ago….or four years ago…..somebody had started the mass transit project instead of the massive flyovers…..you would need only ten minutes of transit and about twelve minutes walk max to reach to your desk…..honestly how much time and money are you wasting every morning….these days…?

sir considering the size of big Mac or size of the pie to say…..i dont see the construction of freeways or underpasses stoping.
in theory , i respect your option, YES, mass transit is the best posibble solution…and if you ask me, i wud burn all those cars and make all those fat bastards walk to there offices and burn those stored flithy cholestrol…..for god sake ahlf of our population is gogin obesse……
but till the time we reach a national conses on the issue…( which by my calculation will take another 30-40 years )….so till that time what to do….???

Lots of Pathan towns, even good size cities may disappear if they build Kalabagh dam. Naushehra comes to my mind.
May be I am wrong here, but not every thing Pathans do is wrong.
Of course, when it comes to Karachi- they should either shape up or ship out.

Sir, although the extent of damge that might be, is debatable. But its generally accepted that YES some damage will occure.
But for greater benefits , small sacrifices are done. Here its 50 yrs of cheap electricity, for a city of mud and bricks, then by god I wud say, just do it, NOW

Sir, honestly, my all exposure of nothren region is my ayasho tours to the mountains only…..have been to peshwar for. Few hours once only….so don’t know how big this city might be
But does that make a diffrence is this city has 100 mud n brick houses or 1 million….if on the other hand we have 100 cities nd 10,000 villages to look after.
Besides, plz visit revolving resturant on shahrah faisal…..and see how ugly this mud n brick city karachi is……I wud recomend only go to revolving at night….as lights in the city hide the ugliness in background
