What drives insanity?

Every now and then we hear horror stories about reckless driving. I got to know of one such case where a person who was driving at speed of 120 without any reason. He first hit two motorcycles subsequently, killing both the commuters and then while he was being chased by the police, he lost control completely, he hit another car and now that guy is hospital in serious condition including fractures and head injury, and if he pulls it through then he will be in hospital for 3 months minimum. I hope he recovers. No good reason for anyone who is in such practice, even for the high which is sometimes stupidly proclaimed by some people.

This reminds me that there was some event of Car Racing organized in Hamara Karachi festival this year about which I wanted to write way back but I somehow forgot. Sab choro I mean how can you allow racing on the roads in the first place, even with whatever safety arrangements you claim. This decision was utter foolishness. Can’t we bring in some stuff except the boating, eating and racing?! C’mmon, wake up! I guess we seriously need some brains working.

    Well….my 2 cents on it.

I regularly drive my phatphatti at 120 or so…higest being 140 my record….all the while reading mails, listning to songs and sipping juices.

Hi speed is not dangerous, irrresponsible driving is…….if I drive at 140 yet keep my focus…and abide my rules…..then I am much better than a jerk who drives at 40 wrong side, or turn without indicators or turn left with a right indicator….drive with no head light or back light…or with super blinding crystal lights.

Sir in matters of ethics don’t blame govt, look into oneself….how your phatphati is road worty or not…or r u road worthy or not….as per my guess 70 % or more shud not be allowed to drive

fasee, now that’s stupidity. wrong is wrong, whether its turning without indicators or driving at high speed will have more chances of losing focus right. though yes we need to work on our driving ethics and government should get some brains in issuing licenses, checking them and not promote racing of any sorts on roads rather make tracks if they are so shauqeen to organize such events.

    @ raheel….

yaar, with all due respect….seeign complex things in a simple way is stupidty of a much higer caliber.

janab speed, or rather overspeeding is a realtive term…..why does a train running at 320 kph is normal while in pakstan its running at 80 kph makes us surprised, " wah ji aaj tu bari teez door rai hai"

over speeding is when its geting out of control, if you dont have a steering that really steers, or you dont have "situational awarness" of all thgnsi going on around ya…….a women at 40 kph is still dangerous…..while i drive at 120 when i find room to achive that….the fastest i hit ( 140 kph )…i might have gone higer, if i had been on a higway…as in city till your phatphati reach 100-120…koi na koi manhoos speed breaker, trafic signal ya suzki mehran wala a jati hai, that wont let you pass, while still admant to drive on fast lane with a 40 kph speed…..now thast what i call stupidity.

some weeks ago, i made life of a guy , in a suzkui mehran, misrable when he was tryign to overtake a truck while me at the back, it took him a good 5 mintues or so in a mehran ( probably on CNG ) to overtake teh truck….and all the while i was at his bumper with all horns blazing and headlight+fog lights at full beam…..that guy ( along with his wife ) kept shouting at me or gving me strange sxtares, but still tried to ovbertake before me……..but they really looked harrased till teh time i had my time with them…..but was it EGO, inferority complex, or just low IQ that he kept on tryign to overtake a speeding truck while being totally harased by a phatphati on teh back, but dont let go.

this whole nation needs to import prozac by the tons, instead of the regualr import of viagra.

fasee, sorry to say but you didn’t get the whole idea. It is also about ordering the complex and not make simple; hope that you the difference. Ego stuff and overtaking point can be accepted and it’s really foolish of people who that. However sorry no kind of speed driving irrespective of how well you think yourself or your machine and that gender comment should have been self-censored.

Yaar, call me biased or male chauvinist…..but ask a driver, any driver, how much they have been tormented by that specie dat I have self censored and not named.

Fasee in all his life, whenever had an accident, major or minor, it was either a speed braker, bike wala, road side trench ya that other seems to be driving specie…….so the resulting bias and hatred towards all four

Bhai, the main problem is, you can find a guy with his whole family on a bike driving at 50 KM, but on fast lane, what you gonna do know?

I think Government can’t help us in this matter, most of people on road don’t know a damn about driving, they don’t even hesitate in overtaking from left hand, don’t bother touching indicators. Not evening watching side mirrors. So, speed is not the only thing that’s causing these issues.

I guess 80 KM/hour should be the limit, at least we ourselves should not cross that limit. I drive daily on Shahra-e-Faisal, and it happens most of the time, that you are driving at 120KM/Hour speed, suddenly some stupid pedestrian decided that its the best time to cross the road, it becomes really hard to stop at that time. I too have a habit of driving a bit fast on plain roads like Karsaz and Shahra-e-Faisal, but I don’t exceed 100KM/H, and I only drive with this speed on fast lane.

Hmmm…so the milion dolar question is….wat to do…whne there is an incompetent govt, and a jahil qoum at the driving seat.

U r bound to find ur own answers, but I try to act like a vigilantee whenever I can.

If some, B#*@h crosses me thw wrong way….I follow her with horns and full beam till the time our paths r same…

Its satisfying to see there tormented faces when I leave them……either they won’t do that again or maybe thell think "koi mawali pee ke pechay par giya tha"

My hunch is the later option….:)

If u have any better, do tell
