Anyway – the idea of an operation to cleanse Karachi from arms seems like a good idea if the following conditions are met:
[1] Only illegal arms should be ceased. As citizens of Pakistan, we are entitled to bear arms in a legal manner. We shouldn’t be deprived of this basic right just because we are karachiites.
[2] The operation is not another excuse for discrimination against the urdu speaking populace. There should be no humiliation of families in neighborhoods like last time. It should be done with good intelligence and all searches should be carried out with respect of privacy.
The idea is great but why not start from the root of illegal weapons trade? The darra? Bu then again I would support any campaign against illegal guns. There’s still 144 imposed in Karachi which actually restricts carrying any arms be it licensed too.

You may have some valid reason to oppose any kind of operation in Karachi. However, I feel your comparison of law and order situation in Karachi and Lahore doesn’t sound logical. What makes Karachi different from Lahore is the inter ethnic rivaleries and enmities in Karachi. Anyway it doesn’t mean Lahore doesn’t need any such operation to defang the extremist groups of Punjab.
