Karachi Traffic Jams: WE or GOVT?

We have been observed lot of development in last few years in Karachi. But traffic problem is becoming worst day by day. In my personal experience, the distance which took around 30 minutes to reach a destination a year before now it takes not less than 30 minutes.

In your opinion, who is the responsible of traffic jams in Karachi?

  • Public: because people don’t care about rules and still want to use incorrect paths regardless the impact?
  • City Government: because they didn’t plan properly and creating problems for public?
  • Traffic Police: because they are failed to control traffic properly?

Mr. Pasha. Being an author for Karachi for a long time. I think your observation is extremely poor. First of all… Your verdict that the time required for reaching somewhere, was and STILL IS the same. Better broaden your commute and vary your routes. Secondly, there are a number of other elements involved for example increased population.

Finally, there is NO single entity responsible for traffic jams. EVERY ONE of these PLUS a few more elements are involved.

I find your poll extremely unprofessional, as you could have at least added one more basic option “ALL of the above”

    @oldguy

Thanks for your comments! We all can understand that there must not be a single reason for this… but we want to look that what people thinking that which reason hits more.

Regarding the distance, as I said, in my personal observation.. it may be different for someone. But, honestly, what I observed that we have lot of signal free corridors with bit of lack of planning; so people forced to choose inappropriate routes which caused traffic jams…

Similarly, wht abt newly develop bridge near Safari Park? People claiming for signal free corridors but didn’t you notice Garibabad intersection and need of signals at there? ok! we have under-pass at Liquatabad but don’t you feel the need of signal to be place under Liquatabad flyover?

6.45 PM at Khalidbib walid road Allama iqbal road there was no power so the signal was not working, policeman not present, but it was lockhorn traffic chaos means – signal was there, road was there, absent was Policeman & the Power – why there was traffic mess,

WE – I repeat WE citizens & vehicle users of this city are responsible for traffic chaos whenever it happens. Traffic light, Road & power is responsibility of City Govt which they did to 90% (10% less because of loadshedding) rest – I’d earnestly devotedly honestly say ONE PAIR of Traffic policemen at every traffic light is always busy in extortion., They do it because they need it for their children.

any day stop over at traffic RED light at the zebra crossing (whereever visible) the MESSY IMPATIENT Fucked up class of people start honking behind the bike, and thumping on trunk of your car, to move forward.

they do not focus on light ahead they focus on either direction light to turn yellow or vacant spots in the traffic flowing direction.

Respecting a red light & Zebra crossing STOP line is a Gross insult for vehicle users among us, this needs to be managed by US the road & vehicle users, It is us who need to manage our driving skills and right of way

PASTA nice topic & good work

We people are the responsible for this. People who didn’t even deserved a donkey cart now have cars. Driving with pride, changing lanes without watching side mirrors and blah blah.

Secondly, these traffic police guys, they came on roads just to collect bribe, they don’t even bother controlling traffic.

    @ mqpasta.

Agree wid ya on govt not doing its part, people being ignorant, traffic polic corrupt.

Yet travel times have reduced no matter what you are which segment of society you belong or what your commuting time and route is/are.

If there wud have not been those nasty pathans, we cud have had the KCR to improve all furthur
