“The Primordial Dot” by Shireen Kamran

DSC_0213A solo exhibition titled “The Primordial Dot” showing some of the recent work by artist Shireen Kamran opened yesterday at the Canvas Art Gallery, in Karachi.

The work on display is vibrantly colorful with energetic strokes, layers of colors, textures forms and shapes painting an energetic and  joyous world.  Works titled “Carousel” and one (triptych) titled “Zikr” are the ones which I personally enjoyed the most because they have so many layers, forms and colors integrated into them, of hope, simple joys, bringing mental peace through all the chaos that life offers. The work “Safar” a set of six pieces too a personal favorite paints the different experiences one learns through in a journey, of life or of discovering the great depths in it.

The artists say “My recent works focuses on my overriding interest with abstractions, occasional hints of imagery, tracing my continued interest in the mystical. Despite my ostensibly conservative Values, these works for me joyously liberating, capturing luminosities, hybrid animal Forms, limbs receding into arches leading into the higher state, the Unknown.
The show will remain open for general public till 28th, January  2010, at the Canvas Gallery, Karachi

    “pan spits”

naaaw…that market is already oversaturated….such class acts come by dime-a-dozen….so a new comer liek me wont find any place for myself to express in a big way

    “sunday bazars”

well after a disaster…when his aam ka achaar ki oil paintings were taken away and used up in achar gossht by bargain hunters….that broke the heart of the sensitive artist.

he even cacneled his next exhibiton from nimbo ka rus and daar cheeni.

before that…his exhibiton created by “garam masaala” was storomed by jamitayas taken the ingridents by its literal meanings….;):):)

    naaaw…that market is already oversaturated

sir this argument does not have any weight…the top world class artists of today use the same options available centuries before to Picasso,Rembrandt and Da vinci…and yet they are able to create masterpieces today that are very different from theirs….I am sure that if you have the talent that I know you have…you may be able to come up with a genuine masterpiece and believe me by masterpiece I honestly don’t mean a piece of cake from Master bakers of binori town….lol

  12. بستنی (wasiq) on January 26th, 2010 @ 3:07 am

@fasee saab….sir don’t you worry about Ideas….and spaces to paint…I am trying my best to be contacted by the sponsors of “I own Karachi..” to request them to set aside two underpasses for you to paint….Howzatt !
