I went to karachi last month after 3 years and i am extremely happy to see all the progress which we never have thought for, i went to CDGK office to see how these guys are working and believe me or not they are helping each and everybody by heart and soul.
You can’t ask for more from these guys, they have loads of problems regarding funds etc due to Provincial Government but still trying their best to keep Karachi progressing.
Pakistan need MQM as a main stream party. Thats my honest opinion as a true Pakistani.

I am not sure myself why I am saying this…but I remember the good old days of sattar seth supari wala….if you ask me he was the one you really broke the Ice….and highlighted the water and sewerage issues….health and hygine of the people of karachi…in his time there was no such thing as CDGK ….karachi’s services were divided between KDA and KMC. water& sewarage board and the building control authority were not under the then KMC + ZMC’s….the budget was almost negligible…the law&order was horrific…bushra zaidi case had highlighted the traffic problem ….so came the first and second fly overs of the city….and he gave us kids the sense of belonging to the city for the first time….he was and shall always be the best and favorite city father karachi was ever blessed with…

It was actually NAIMUTULLAH KHAN who set this unfortunate city on the right path of development otherwise criminal gang MQM which had been going to bed with literally every government ever since last two decades was just busy extorting,exploiting and terrorizing poor karachiites and sending extortion money to their absconding leadership so that those thugs there could ‘make their ends meet’. Naimatullah basically gave these Bhathakhors/Extortionists a run for their money . Had it not been him we would have never seen any of this development. Unlike Mustafa Kamal and his gang,he was not a badmaash but still showed that despite bureaucratic hurdles development and betterment work could be done.
AND the parks development too start during his era. I commented about that flooding in north nazimabad in an earlier KMB post,let me paste it from there..
Despite MQMized city governments claims and spending of billions of rupees on rain water drainage systems and the whole city was dug up but the road from Asghar Ali stadium towards KDA roundabout is badly flooded with rain water coming in from the higher hilly areas and that important road remains inundated and crippled and cut off for traffic whenever there is a downpour. All the commuters heading home towards North Nazimabad,Sakhi Hasan,Nagan Chowrangi,New Karachi onwards get stuck at that point.Majority in those areas comprise of MQM supporters(or at least they claim it to be the case) but it seems that MQMized city government have failed miserably in dealing with this issue. Even if some one in future plans to dig up and build massive underground drainage system at KDA roundabout then that too will be obstructed by these high tension wires masts. Until then most of the residents living and passing through that road will be drowned by the flood water after every downpour.

The actual problem with that road is that Dr Asim Hussain of Ziauddin Hospital fame have EXTENSIVELY encroached both side of the road exactly at the point where water is suppose to enter lyari sewer,so when natural flow of water gets obstructed then obviously it will flood the roads. Besides that those mammoth high tension power pylons have made that issue more complicated and whole sewerage system on that road gets clogged up.

If regression is the name of the game and you are hell bent upon dragging Naimatullah into this. Then why not go further, wasn’t it Musharraf who provided the much needed funds directly to City governments even to Naimatullah (despite his parties known animosity towards him) to finally get some work done in this city. And, wasn’t he who directed Corporate’s like KPT, PIA, Steel Mills etc to contribute to the cities development.
Remember, before that the Mayor of Karachi used to deal with un-paid striking Khagroob’s almost on quarterly basis. And when Mr. Sharif took away the Toll income there was nothing left. Without funds Naimatullah would have been just another guitar playing mayor running after Jamadaars.
As for MK, his teams selfless service is un-comparable, they served every community without cast or creed. A bunch of real go getters.
