New Market Timings

Guess what is this? It’s a Doughnut!

It’s been some time that I blogged and when I saw this, I thought a good opportunity to capture it and see what guesses the readers can come up with.

Don’t worry, this is about Karachi, something edible and easily available here.

So, what is this exactly?

Definitely a story is attached with this. And here it is after a day long wait:

It’s a Doughnut (Billie Jeans kinda got it right). Not a home baked doughnut even. A “Dunkin’ Donut” double chocolate doughnut of all the things, which arrived with the double sandwich deal they are currently running. This simultaneously amazed and icked me out.

The Story of Sabra

Her hair knotted, her jeans as dirty as it could get, completely worn-out, with sticking coming off from some places, and an old tee shirt, which too as dirty and ragged as her paints hung loosely on her bony shoulders. I spotted her sitting on a heap of garbage, having some rotten fruits probably thrown away by some pushcart vendor, near my uncle’s house in New Karachi.  “Who is she ? ”  When i asked my uncle, her sad story was narrated to me.

2nd TLISM Festival

Sheema Kermani along with her troupe of Tehrik-e-Niswan will be showcasing various theatre and dance performances in 2nd TLISM Festival for Peace and Disarmament from 19-28 March at the Arts Council, Karachi.. It is a tribute to her Ustad Mr Ghanshyam who is coming to Pakistan after 27 years. I have seen some of the performances which have been scheduled and I must recommend them to all – especially Song of Mohenjodaro and Insha ka Intezaar. Details of the festival can be viewed by clicking the thumbnail.
