A Nation Hijacked by a Lady

No doubt, Cowasjee is spot on. Lately, everyone in this land of “pure” from truck driver to the Elite, is worried about Aafia Siddiqui. No one is bothered (let alone questioning) about the 2 million $ (around 17 caror rupees) wasted for a useless cause. Since emotions have always overtaken wisdom in our country, MQM seeing the time “Right”, recently organized a big rally for Aafia so it doesn’t waste an opportunity to wash its own hands in behti ganga oblivious to the fact that it exposes their “ani-Talibanisation” rhetoric. One was not expecting them to fall in line too and take “populist” approach but nevertheless they are also part of the overall “Political Package” and a political analyst shouldn’t be surprised at all. Pakistan media is successfully leading the herd. A disappointed fellow SMS me that why PAK media inst presenting the other side of the story?. I say, you tell. Who will dare to go against the “mob”?. To top this all are some

cyber/SMS-jihadists bursting out www/texts on Aafia’s educational qualifications with a spicy touch of references to M. Bin Qasim and other super-emotional rhetoric, devoid of any rationalist analysis or factual info. My reader might ask why i dont post some info here if i see truth otherwise. The answer is : I dont want to fill pages on what is already there for the common sense to read. My point in this post is simply this: Pity on a Nation where hunger is on every street, 60% don’t have water, people are selling their children due to poverty, corruption is “National right” , inflation is touching new heights (with more coming next month), its at the brink of collapse with a “failed nation” crown and its National Agenda/Issue is a lady who had links with Al-Qaeda and Taliban. It’s no rocket science to find out what her past has been as well as her own behavior in court which resulted in the case been lost by her (one of the famous incident being where she offers “mediation” between Taliban/Al-qaeda and US gov). And my point is also this: I wonder where this hype goes when it is the matter of the other 8000 odd tortured/raped/killed in the name of honor women. Probably “ISLAM” isn’t in danger then, the rest of 8000 are not “Daughters of Islam” nor they are “Pakistan ki betiz” so its “Alright” to let those injustices happen but why would one waste an opportunity like this to cash some votes?. James Harvey’s words justify the current political environment may be:
” Political campaigns are designedly made into emotional . . . which endeavor to distract attention from the real issues involved, and they actually paralyze what slight powers of cerebration man can normally muster “

do you think you’re sophisticated? Do you think that emotion for a kidnapped family is wrong? It’s so ridiculous that people like you mock Muslims who make references to Muhamamd bin Qasim. Listen moron, if it was your mother, than all of a sudden YOU would be making the references to Muhammad bin Qasim. A family was tortured, raped and kidnapped, we must go and fight to free them immediately! End of story. We want people like you dead. Your thinking is disgusting.

These jihadis whom you love to mock and ridicule, belittle and insult, it is they who have been fighting for decades for the women of Kashmir, it was the Taliban who rescued 2 girls, an act which started their movement, how could you even think about claiming that they don’t care about the rest of the woman? Where were you when the taliban were rescuing those two girls? Where were you when the mujahdieen were avenging girls in kashimr? Where were you when the LeT was in punjab, rescuing women and children from the flood. Even in canada, journalists were admitting that the LeT was in the worst affected areas helping women and chidlren. They don’t need to broadcast it to impress morons like you.

@MB one of those rare occasions where I agree with you 100%. I have been the devil’s advocate for a while but on this issue I cannot second the populist stance that Muttahida has taken. The march of the reloigous right propelled by the blunders/corruption of the left is so strong that everybody is feeling the heat. I can only hope that this rallying by MQM is nothing more than hypocratic lip service.

As for Media the realization has dawned and its not difficult to decipher which channel is working on which agenda, they have not been reporters but party to every crises that has unfolded.

For exmple since the relations between the lawyers and the media have become less than cordial, media now reports in great detail who the lawyers attack and what they break, wheras, in the past they virtually ran their campaign for them.

    @someone,
Posting with a nick like that shows the great reservoirs of moral courage you have.

the comment counter reads 4 but I believe its only one….;-p

Well most of you firmly believe and openly say that I am very pro-west like the parsi’s and khoja’s…the truth is that I am not a BL like them…I try to think…and despite the fact that they use greatest minds in the world and resources beyond imagination to create a catch 22 situation …I do at times manage to escape ….I feel very proud of it…
Now here in this case of Dr Aafia Siddiqui to my greatest surprise and maybe it is the reason why it has been blown out of proportions…in the first place is that Pakistan a very pro American Nation has on a number of occasions let go of its vital interests just on a phone call from the US….Kargil is a glaring example of this unfortunate relation where accoring to the unconfirmed rumors Mr clinton called PM sharif and said Hi….and over the years there has been a MFN(most favored nation) status given to eachother …to the extent of Anything your heart desire the americans have access to no-go areas in Pakistan and pakistan has the best military toys in the region plus unlimited access to theirs for training purpose…..
so how and why you can’t have something you so desperately want…so much so that a pro american anti-taleban bhatta party of karachi had to took to the street to record its protest….we all know that they don’t come out so openly for anybody that is not one of theirs…which suggests that the family (mother and sister) of Dr aafia siddiqui is officially a member of the bhatta party…or this could be a tug of war political among the parties….but the demand of her release is unanimous..no doubt…the parliament and GHQ wants her back…so why is the US not dropping all charges against her and trying to create an impression that the US justice system is taking its due course…???
must be loving a united Pakistan front or is it a new clear test against the hardcore loyalist in pakistan….??? lol

    GOD BLESS AMERICA

You are messed up. unless if its one of your own family member who is harrassed and tormented like this, its a waste. Have you lost the sense of right and wrong. All this just to prove yourself to be an ally of US. I think the US is very happy for this article of your and they’ll give you lots of money and a designation there.

You know what, you can now claim asylum in US after getting all these admonitionary replies to your article. you’ll make a very good dishwasher there..

sir I have studied the public international law and private international law….I don’t give a damn about her character….think above what she did or did not do….if a very friendly nation asks you something that is a matter of national integrity and pride ….how can you so blatantly turn a blind eye and let it fall on deaf ears….That is my concern…..

someone is very bhola here; I would say we hang those who have handed over (rather sold) Aafia to them. Let’s set an example, empower ourselves first. No one should take away even a bird from our country. Crying over spill milk will just make us look more stupid. People!! Take charge; kick those corrupted politicians out of our Pak Land.

    @Karachi-la

Beggars cant be choosers, its not only aid. if for any reason they ban our textile imports or apply adverse duties. Our whole industrial sector whatever it is will go down, together with financial and what not. millions more will become un-employed and there will be chos every where.

Geear bhabkion se kaam nahein chaltaa. Mian kaam karo kaam kuch bun ke dikhao phir kehna bahir nikal. But then when you become kaam ka aadmee then you will not have time for such nonsense.

@Karachi-la saab…please don’t be offended by my learned friend @kaami sir….in a democracy only that person does the job whose job it is to do it….unlike the autocracy where one person can force everyone to do his job…….except himself….

Dr. Amjad is the first Husband of Dr. Afia.
Finally he released the complete Truth about Afia…

According to him she tried to black mail him by taking fake photographs of herself which depict that he used to abuse her by hitting any by other cruel means.
What the hell, he is saying “kidnap of Afia, was just a propaganda against me,so that i cant meet my children” “it was Afia’s revenge of Divorce”
According to him Its also A false fact that she was ever shifted to Bugram jail.

She kept herself hidden in her home during those 5 years, and media kept shouting about “MISSING AFIA”
at the same time HER SISTER Dr Fouzia gave her that spacial pic to media which she took to black mail me.It was only to show that she has been the target of brutality in America But it was all pre- planned, said DR Amjad….

I think they did mistake, they should kill afia on the spot when they catched her so people will not waisting there time & money on this useless cause after 7 years of her missing, her charecter is very strange why she was hiding for a long time?? If she is a normal woman then why did she marry someone related to Al-Qaida I mean she could not find one normal men out of 170 million pakistanis??? and i am sure that no millitary or agencies catch anyone without having strong information about the activities of the person. If they start to catch any innocent normal person then every house or every street or every area should have lot of missing peoples then why only Afia Siddiqui Why they dont bring you or me to afghanistan why only Afia??? I am sure she did something thats why she is behind the bars!!

if you want the answer to so many “why”s …go watch the movies erin brockovich of julia roberts or changeling of Angelina jolie….!
Americans are so angels…and their justice system is not a divine one…every wronged individual has to go through a system to get justice …but only few have to go through it the first time….those are the people who makes changes in the system ….and force legislation…create precedents for the whole nation and generations to come….
I believe that it is the courage and determination (not the voice) of her dear loving family esp her mother and sister that has highlighted this issue with their struggle ….they have met everybody who is anybody in this country and even rehman malik saab as well…to use their good office in helping her release from the Americans….I firmly believe that if it hasn’t been for these two incredible ladies …Dr Aafia’s case would have never been a national issue…and she would have been just another Al-qaeda agent rusting in a US prison (torture camp)….and you and I would Have probably never even heard of it let alone commenting and reacting like this…
Regardless of the outcome of this ordeal….I believe that this is an important issue and a turning point in the US-Pak relations and also an education for the leaders ,politicians, brass tags and bureaucrats of both US and Pakistan…Iam sure that during the previous regime of BUSH and MUSH …a lot of international treaties and conventions were not followed…in letter and spirit…which it was the duty of the present elected and representative government of both countries to have rectified and made sure that the injustice is stopped…and the ambiguities of all the bi-lateral treaties should have been removed that lead to such an embarrassing situation…both countries The US and Pakistan are at the moment engaged in a war on terror…with an enemy that plays with the hearts and minds of the innocent….it is not good to have to even have friendly fire ….when due to some miss understanding and bureaucratic snag ….they are showing rift and conflict …ridiculing allies….giving an advantage to the enemy…to further incite the hatred and create suspisions….is that what the leadership of both countries want….I don’t think so…well you never know ….lol

    GOD BLESS AMERICA

You are still suffering from mouth diarrhea.

WHy does it bother if a truck writes something for Aafia? Does this truck belong to your family or did someone write on your Butt that “Afia kO raha Karo”? What about various party slogans we see daily? What about various slogans for “Chief Justice” when he was sacked?

Dude, come out of your extremist side and learn to tolerate things. The day you learned it, other will also follow your footstep.

AS far as her education is concerned, do you doubt about it? or you are jealous that you came out from some govt school of a remote village where you did not even learn how to write on slate? Don’t curse others for your own jahalat.
