Karachi Ring’s With Bangs On Shab-e-Barat.
A loud bang startled me, and my mind went to the war zone. This is what it sounds like when a bomb is dropped and countless living beings, mostly civilians are turned into a mess of minced meet and charred body parts. The smell of gunpowder which follows makes the air heavy, the images of the war zone, the stench of the blood, the cries of children in pain, injured, dieing, crying in disbelieve that the colorful world they believed in could be so horrifying are added in by my wild imagination.

6 commentsWe’ll bomb you to PTV
“We’ll bomb you to Stone Age” is what the Americans said. How stupid they were. They didn’t know we already have the expertise at home. So today our government has finally recognized that actually the Talibans were right which is a kind of victory for the Conservatives. Not only they have successfully taken over our thinking capsule but hopefully, soon no one would accuse them of Less respect for women, forcing their will on others, No regard for Human rights & burning CDs or AUDIO/VIDEO shops & all that Elite-Club fancy slogans because our gov. decided that its actually the right direction to proceed. They were continuously saying that women can’t handle freedom so lets put em inside, TV is for fahashi , burn the TV shops & music wont be allowed at any cost but we ignored them, calling them retards. How wrong we were !!!.
Heard this around eve on GEO today. Unsatisfied with the clampdown on Human Rights & Media, it has now banned any import of Dish Antenna, D-Receivers, decoders & related equipment & no one has any doubts why. Well, so PTV, the stone age channel one would immediately ban for churning out false information, lies & propaganda for a particular thinking is still roaming around free. This is a (NOT A) free world indeed. Lets (not) pray that the next target be Internet. Miles to go before sleep . . . . Start searching some underground methods to access websites before its too late.

Whereas there is visible ascendancy in the activities of extremists and incidents of terrorist attacks, including suicide bombings, IED explosions, rocket firing and bomb explosions and the banding together of some militant groups have taken such activities to an unprecedented level of violent intensity posing a grave threat to the life and property of the citizens of Pakistan.
Whereas there has also been a spate of attacks on state infrastructure and on law enforcement agencies;
Whereas some members of the judiciary are working at cross purposes with the executive and legislature in the fight against terrorism and extremism, thereby weakening the government and the nation’s resolve and diluting the efficacy of its actions to control this menace;

Protest at Press Club today, Citizens Campaign to Reclaim Karachi
IN LIGHT OF THE DEVELOPING EMERGENCY SITUATION IN PAKISTAN THE PROTEST HAS BEEN CALLED OFF

As you all were made aware in a previous post Citizens Campaign to Reclaim Karachi and later the Q and A that a group of concerned Karachiittes were actually feeling sick and tired of the deteriorating situation of our city, which has transformed itself from a hub of peaceful activities back in the hey days to now become a city of bomb blasts and gun totting terrorists.
The campaign has now planned a peaceful protest in front of the Karachi Press Club to show everyone that we as peace loving citizens of Karachi are willing to stand up and say NO to this reign of terror, simply said we want our peaceful city back.
It must be pointed out that this initiative is not about any political affiliation but we simply want to bring peace to this city of lights.
If you are also sick and tired of all what is happening to our city then get off your butt and join to us in this peace initiative
Location: Karachi Press Club
Time: 7:00 PM
Q-and-A: Citizens Campaign to Reclaim Karachi
Looks like quite a few questions have sprung up regarding the campaign. I’ll try to answer them here in this post.
Q: Is this campaign the brainchild of KMB authors?
A: No. T2f director, Sabeen Mahmud, came up with the idea soon after the October 18 bomb blasts. We at KMB are merely a part of the campaign, as are a whole load of other people, because we’re citizens of Karachi.
Q: Why have a campaign at all?
A: The masses need to be involved in the process of taking control of their own city. This is OUR city. It does not belong to so-called politicians who come to roost here occassionally.

Blogs explode with blast reaction
34 commentsThe October 18 bomb blasts on PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto’s welcome rally have already made it to Wikipedia, with updates and an active discussion underway on the article’s ‘talk’ page.
Within an hour of the bombs going off, the blasts were also reported on a number of blogs originating from the city, including Karachi MetroBlogs (http://karachi.metblogs.com ), Adil Najam’s Pakistaniat.com, and Dr Awab Alvi’s teeth.com.pk.
While the blogs provided an analysis of the incoming news reports, commentators grieved for the losses of life, and the degenerating law and order situation in Karachi. ‘Give us a break, and stop doing this to our country,’ was the most common response to posts put up about the blasts. Many quoted Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s couplets, and expressed solidarity with those who had suffered. More…
