Nawab Sahib Kibla at the Arts Council
Written in 1940 by Rafi Peer, Usman Peerzada brings to life the story of Nawab Sahib Kibla starring Mohammad Qavi Khan, Javaid Rizvi, Mehreen Rafi and himself for 6 days at the Arts Council. Tickets at Rs.1000 are available for purchase from Agha’s Supermarket and Copper Kettle and proceeds from the sales will go towards The Citizen’s Foundation. The show started promptly at 930pm and shockingly, just one cellphone ringtone went off, but then that was before the MC made the announcement to remind the audience of the simple etiquettes, so we can let that one go. Following the success of the previous Sufi festivals in Lahore and in Karachi, Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop (RPTW) is taking the 5th edition of the Festival on a national tour. With its main venue set in Multan for 2008, the festival will travel to Karachi, and Islamabad, with a three day showcase in Lahore. RPTW has generously offered to stage the Karachi event in aid of disabled persons of the earthquake-hit areas to benefit CHAL Network, a project of Murshid Hospital & Health Care Centre.
The four hour programme will be staged at the Beach View Garden of Carlton Hotel, DHA on 30th April 2008 at 8:00 pm.

The five-day International Mystic Music Sufi Festival 2007 began at Bara Dari (Old Polo Ground) yesterday. This is the 6th edition of the festival. Karachi, however, has been selected to host the event for the first time ever. Tickets for the five-day event are available for Rs 300 only.
The event is being organized by the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop (Usman & Peerzada, Samina Peerzada) in collaboration with the Sindh government. The festival will feature over 300 Sufi music artists from all over the world.
Abida Parveen, Fateh Ali Khan, Sabri Qawal, Raza Alan Fakir, Sain Zahoor, Najam Sheraz are among the artists from Pakistan.
“The main purpose of this festival is to communicate the spirit of Islam as a proponent of peace and love to a wide audience.” The festival will feature various forms of Sufi music, including qawwalis, dances & poetry
