http://karachi.metblogs.com/archives/images/2007/08/Impressions5-thumb.jpgYesterday at the Manzar Akber Hall of the Karachi Arts Council, at the dot of six the red ribbon at the door was cut off by Dr.Shahidul Alam and we all followed him in to the exhibition titled “Impressions”. After Dr. Shahidul introduced to us to Rabeya, the young photographer and a short note of thanks by Rabeya herself, I started browsing the gallery one photo after another. The first picture of a girl from Mirpur Khas with colors spread all around her, in her clothes, surroundings and her smile but her future yet uncertain, touched me. In Rural areas of Pakistan the fate of almost every other women is filled with uncertainty. Another picture on display of MirpurKhas showed women, who otherwise remain veiled behind a burka, peeping out of the window of their home, inquisitive of the world outside the bounds of the “Chador and Char Dewari” was yet another testament of the status of a Village women In rural Sindh.
