The clock just struck 12 and it sounds like a war zone out there. It seems like every year the duration and intensity of the firing just increases.

Underpass

Before my trip back home I was under the impression that the completed underpass must have made life much easier but I was extremely disappointed to find the roads around it have been left in a complete mess. Hope they fix it up soon.

I read this news article and it reminded me of the situation back home. I wonder if the same tactic could be effictive in Karachi. I personally doubt it though. On second thought the CPLC is providing a similar service.

Dozens of villages containing hundreds of thousands of people have received little or no aid nearly four weeks after a devastating earthquake hit Pakistan and India.

With the official death toll in Pakistan alone now topping 73,000, questions are being asked about the pace of relief efforts and the lack of international aid flowing to the region.

An estimated 3.3 million people remain homeless as winter approaches in the mountainous Kashmir region, raising fears of an even worse humanitarian disaster to come….

What I Miss About Karachi: 1

Its been over 2 months since I drove and i’m just itching to get behind the wheel, especially after seeing this movie last night, Initial D, it’s about drift racing. If you are a racing fan you’ll love this movie though it might be hard to find a print in Karachi since its a Chinese movie with english subtitles.

Obsession with Online Communities

Paki’s seem to be obsessed with online communities. First it was Orkut and now Huqa. I think this obsession stems from the fact that there are so few opportunities for youngsters to interact with one another. I admit I was one of the first few people to join Orkut and send off invites to friends. Its a convenient way to stay in touch. It also helped me to get back in touch with people I had not met or spoken to in ages. But I think one online community is more than enough and it serves its purpose well.
