Dusty Day

Dusty Day in Karachi.
Quite a dusty day today!

Karachi to see Freezing Temperature

zero-in-khi
If BBC Weather forecast is to be believed, Karachi is going to see a minimum of -3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 0 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

Of course these are minimum temperatures and that too predicted ones which we might not actually see but it is nice to see the winter seasons prolonged this year.

An Inexpensive Alternative

http://karachi.metblogs.com/archives/images/2007/12/An-Inexpensive-Alternative-thumb.jpg The recent cold spell has brought with it these colorful heaps of used clothing which are making their appearance felt at the make-shift weekly bazaars around the city as in efficient and inexpensive winter clothing alternative for the poor, under privileged and the struggling middle class of our society, assuring to keep them warm throughout the winters without putting much strain on their already warned out pockets.

Here comes the rain

I was just about to go to sleep, but I thought I might as well post an update on the weather before I do. My earlier wish of winter gracing the city may be granted soon by the looks of it, because the heavens have just stated to pour here in my part of Karachi. It’s been quite a steady down pour now for the last 10 minutes at least, and it seems to be getting heavier as I type.

Drink Satto.

http://karachi.metblogs.com/archives/images/2007/08/satto-thumb.jpgHeat has once again started to grip up the city, it’s not too hot but hot enough to make you sweat while you are on the streets in the day. Along with the heat several drinks make their appearance on the streets of our city and I am sure many of you have already tried out most of them but there is one which not many of you may be familiar with.

And Another Rain Spell For The City.

Last night On DawnNews it was a shock to see defense authorities stopping journalists from shooting in the DHA area which was still struggling to wear off the effects of the last rain spell which badly effected this posh locality of the city.

Last night the rain lashed Karachi again, I am sure the rain must have added to the miseries of the residents of DHA. I wonder how they and the rest of the city is coping with this “fury of nature” unleashed upon them in the form of this recent rain spell.

Please Share with us how you are cooping with the recent rainfall in Karachi.

Behr-e-M.A.Jinnah Road, and more…

On the way to work today, I was treated to a wonderful (?) view of monsoon-fied Karachi. Following is a pictorial review of sorts.

..itna na baras ke woh aa na sakein

it’s raining and raining hard. i just hope it doesn’t cross the point where it ceases to be a blessing and becomes a pain.

anyone know what the situation on the roads is like? the stretch from site area to nazimabad is pretty decent, though thats not a very huge area. what about the major artereies like sharae faisal, mai kolachi and m a jinnah road?

God’s Canvas

The roads may be dug up and replete with noisy traffic, sidewalks and beaches littered, parks anything but green but the skies in Karachi always make for a feast for eyes who care to look up ever now and then.

Be it sunsets at the far end of horizon where the ocean and skies embrace…

Travel Diary: No Place Like Home

Davis is a small university town in Northern California, home to majority of the students and teachers of the University of California-Davis, one of America’s best universities for agricultural and environmental studies. Accordingly much of Davis’ residents are very passionate environmentalists; everything from a mere walk past the bicycle inhabited roads or a drive down to the neighborhoods malls, cramped with a variety of organic products, reflects the strong pro-environment sentiments of its residents. As a tourist to these parts from Karachi, incidentally recently named the world’s most polluted city, it was in many ways an education of sorts.
